You should think of a myspace account as a funny tshirt slogan, and myspace as a pub, and the other people on it as coils of wire, pulsing slightly as they whisper the names of the dead.

You should think of a facebook account as your face, and facebook as a huge mincing machine, and the other people on it as a huge dead mass exerting their gravitional pull on you from just behind the mincing blades.

You should think of a twitter as a little plate with some kitchen roll spread out on it and dampened and each twitter account as a single spire of cress slowly rising out of it and each comment on it as some kind of cancerous growth on your stalk and your twitter feed is where your growths and some of your neighbours growths intertwine and draw you nearer even though the last thing you ever wanted to do was be near them or anyone else anywhere in the world, and especially not on this plate, on this window ledge by the back door.

19970206-hansjabba.jpg Now I don't know what to think.

Also: someone tell me what to watch tonight: Time Bandits, which I've never seen before, or Lost in Translation again on Film Four.

2001 = good, but long and boring.

2001 is one of those films that you seem to be expected to watch, as you're expected to have an opinion on it. So I will probably watch it eventually, even if it is long and boring.

Or I might just tell people that "I liked the bits with HAL and the monolith, but the rest dragged a bit". And if they ask any more questions I will throw rice in their faces and run away.

Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.

Watch Loaded Weapon, then maybe Lethal Weapon, depending on which version they show. Or Time Bandits.

Without your space helmet, Dave, you're going to find that rather difficult.

I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.

2001 is great. especially the bit at the end where they couldn't think of an ending so they thought "i know lets just drag this out forever and hopefully everybody will have died and nobody notices we couldn't think of an end"
