knack on wood

Ooh yes I like that

my other favourites at the film festival were Marama, a gothic revenge story about a young Maori woman being summoned to 19th century yorkshire by a mysterious letter, and Ghost in the Cell, an Indonesian comedy-horror film set in a prison which reminded me of Hellraiser and Paddington 2 at the same ...

Last night I saw this:

It was actually really really good! Under the jokes and gross out stuff there was some properly angry political commentary. Certain types in America should be forced to watch it, Ludovico Technique style

I saw this yesterday ...

CONGRATULATIONS RETRACTED

A birthday celebrations to you!

Chuckie Egg, Vertigo, Citadel

The holy trinity

you think they're trying to yoke folk?

I also had a flu jab today! I feel okay although I guess my arm is aching a little bit

thanks! It got me eliminated from the competition, haha

And I run the Emmys

I thought the first season was absolutely lovely

you probably didn't, if you really think about it

hooray

happy belated 40th birthday

and yet oddly compelling

The investigation has checked all of man city's goals over the affected period and, shockingly, none of them actually "went in"

I never joke about Macklemore

Here's another one for Spintunes. I really like this one!

I'm still reeling from learning it's pronounced Mac le More and not Mackle-More.

one of the most wretched films I've ever seen, he fit into it perfectly

cheers!

I liked Links Awakening, where the golf course came to life and upset the fragile ecosystem of an island

don't worry, they're way ahead of you on that one

here's another song (FAWM is doing occasional summer songwriting weeks now I guess, this will probably be my only one though)

Gillian Anderson is the best

I also loved Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma, probably my favourite of the year so far

hello Gravid!

I have all the facts about Consolevania, but I'm not telling

(I have still never watched Consolevania)

first new song in a while. I like the lyrics more than the music but I'm happy to have made something

For you, maybe. But think how pleased with itself that bird must be

I went to see the National Emergency Briefing thing at the cinema and when I came out there were lightning strikes roughly every ten seconds which, if I'm honest, was a little on the nose

weeeeep

I'm not clicking on that

Dolly Parton, now d.parton (departing) (she dead)

weep

yes, some rain. I am curious about if / when my garden will stop looking like it has been on fire

It's cheating a bit by having Great in the title. I bet you wouldn't be saying that if it was called The Shit Gatsby

Ah yes, I thought it reminded me of something in particular (other than Atlas of Remote Islands which I definitely thought about, even more than usual)

I bet one of the dinosaurs did (not pictured)

I got some new reading glasses and also I've been trying to read more of The Classics after seeing that recent Guardian list of the top 100 novels and realising I'd only read FOUR of them. I've been trying to find them all in charity shops, because it makes it into a fun scavenger hunt

so far:

yeah it's very odd that the trailer didn't make a big thing of that, it very much seems to be trying to appeal to the Stranger Things nostalgia audience

I loved the big silent worm

I went to see that on Monday and agree with your review. I think it could have been something special if they'd bothered to actually write any characters instead of just going "haha look it's the 80s, everyone has unflattering shorts" but it was still a fun Dino Romp

I did a bit of hypnotherapy last year but that's a bit different to the full on hypnosis I guess

It was good I liked it

I'm at the seaside and it's quite nice being able to just launch myself into the sea every time I get too hot

I don't recall my university having any arcade games. They did still have the cheap pints though obviously

ah excellent! that's on the programme for the local film festival I'm going to in a couple of months

It is raining now (in Lancashire) (because I am camping)

it's seven years old, surely they should have fixed it

I'm trying Disco Elysium again. I got pretty far into it on Switch but gave up because it kept crashing and losing my progress. It was on sale for Xbox so I figured it was time to give it a proper shot, a few hours in it crashed and lost a good chunk of progress

I can see why this game has a vocal ...
