Poo not included.

And they were right.

It's the jump at the end I'm not looking forward to.

I have played none of these. It was a strange position to be in, really.

With Cyril Cusack.

The original games were:
Hobbit text adventure
Planetoid (Defender clone)
Atlantis (Penetrator clone)
Birds of Prey (Galaxians clone)
Alien Break-In
Atom Smasher
The Wizard
Protector (didn't work)
Mined Out (finally completed this on an emulator during Covid lockdown)
The Welcome tape (featuring the ...

I have very little knowledge of the BBC Micro other than the games I had; I never found a place that sold them, so the only additions to my collection came when one of my uncles bought me a few in 1989: Elite, Exile, and a Predator tie-in. The BBC and its games originally belonged to another uncle ...

Ehis sent me this the other day: https://bbcexile.com/
We have a shared love of / obsession with this game, which I had on the BBC Micro and he had on the Amiga (due to seeing the version I had).
I am very frightened, although I have a lot of leave to take between now and the end of the year so ...

You are their Rod Hull.

Dale Johnson's days are numbered.
Also I think this is most interested I've been in a football story in years.

Abolish the licence fee etc

Excellent, the BBC managed to quote the wrong OED entry for 'sham' in this story: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/ar ... y51l3gzq4o

(they're quoting the verb when all the uses of 'sham' in the report and even later on in that story are adjective or noun)

Get well soon - dig one in the garden if you have to.

Consolevania update: no more CVXX, they will be doing things separately (for the CV Patreon) for the foreseeable, but they are not stopping entirely. I think it's actually a logistics issue rather than a falling-out. Still a bit of a shame though.

Every little helps. Also hooray.

I don't know whether I've mentioned this before, but apparently someone I know used to be friendly with a pre-fame Sheeran - played at the same gigs and that sort of thing. ES is one of those people whose music I've managed to avoid for all these years. I suspect a ...

In a bathtub

From Russia With Love (obvuiously)

And the James Bond flim with the fellow who loses his arm and goes out of the window, which always makes me laugh.

Incidentally, why has no one yet turned the bit with Yaphet Kotto inflating into a Confused.com advert. I keep looking on Youtube and being ...

The Amelican dream.

I suppose Link's face is a bit odd but I'm not really bothered. It's not like you have to look at it that much in the game.

No Link will ever be as good as Wind Waker Link anyway.

I think it's limited edition, but one never knows. I found the carry case elsewhere and bought two, so at least my sister and I have something properly Zelda-ish out of the anniversary.

This afternoon I sat in a virtual queue on the Nintendo shop website for 35 minutes, only to find when I got to the front of the queue that absolutely everything Zelda and Switch 2 related had sold out: console, controller, carry case, physical copy of Ocarina of Time remake. Pisssssssss.

I missed Tottie at the time, and have never felt able to remedy this. It is the only Smallfilms programme I am too terrified to watch.

PS hello Gravid!

No one seems to know (other than them, presumably); Rab was doing Patreon-exculsive stuff in the summer to tide them over, but that dried up as well. The suspicion is that the real-life stuff they alluded to earlier in the year (Rab moving house, Ryan having some sort of crisis) has got in the way ...

Contortionist Gollum in a wig plays snooker.

It must have been Laserbeak.

A bird did a horrible blackcurrant shit on me earlier. This really is the worst day.

And now Peter Optimus Prime Cullen. I'm properly upset.

Aaargh

Oh no, weep.

I haven't read The Great Gatsby in decades, but it's bloody brilliant. Of all the candidates for the Great American Novel (tm), it seems the closest.

I hid in the office for 10 hours. Planning to do the same tomorrow.

I don't think I'd ever come back if I were able to do that. Probably because I can't swim.

I haven't taken any time off work so far this year, and I don't think I will until it starts to cool down and I can actually either (a) do useful things or (b) not do anything and enjoy it. Right now the ...

Football, like the poor, will be with us always.

I'd be fine with it if he were on board.

Get Alan Oppenheimer to redub Skeletor.

The thunderstorm lost 4-2 on penalties.

Brut should be banned.

Mexan

I bloody hope so.

I would love it if one of the teams in the 3rd / 4th place playoff said "screw you guys we're going home" and just left.

Germany should demand Rockall at every opportunity, to spice the football up a bit.

ZUT ALORS

It will be like having new ears.

Am I right in thinking they didn't mention his departure at all in the post-match sitting-about with Tim Henman et al? Also I hadn't realised John Lloyd was leaving as well. I didn't mind him, not least because he knew when to shut the hell up.

endar wrote: Sat Jul 11, 2026 7:23 pm did ehis ever meet Emlyn?

He can't have done, he would never stop going on about it if he had. He did meet the Pope once apparently.

He also gave my dad and his mate a lift home in his sports car, something that astonishes me even more every time I think about it.

Apparently Castle was so sad at being told this was his last year commentating on the Wimbledon men's final that he tendered his resignation, even though they were going to let him carry on in other matches. I can only assume that at least one senior ex-player had intimated to the BBC that enough ...
