N

It sounds like they scraped up some rejected, unused material from their last two albums and pretended that it's new

I think the same. But I still love it due to Tool madness.

By far the best songs are Culling Voices and 7empest. The rest would have been great if they were released 20 years ago.

There's very little innovation in the sound of this album. It does mostly sound like older stuff.

I'm hoping now they've cleared out the old stuff to get the album done and out, they'll move on to some newer, fresher sounding sounds. Sounds good? Sound as a pahnd m8.

This is good - slow build to excellence by Adam Jones to flog his guitar.

And this Justin Chancellor / Ernie Ball one is fun. What a lovely bloke he seems to be.

Lovely things

The Adam Jones thing was wonderful, especially when the bass and then the drums kick in, and it's the genuinely new Tool sound I've been craving

i done another listen this morning, as i was up early. 11pm, in fact.

It could be a grower, but there were definitely places where i thought they could have mixed things up a bit. It all seems to be in the same chord and repeats the same notes over and over.

There is also the matter of the wildly overpriced cd version. There is no way i'm paying that kind of money. Takes the piss a bit.
