I cannot find an ailments thread so this is the ailments thread.

Sudden new attack of elbow aids this week: the elbow swelled right up a couple of days ago out of nowhere and was very red and sore. It was a bit better yesterday and is a lot better today (having exploded overnight), so hopefully it'll be fine in 2-3 days, but it's a bit disconcerting when things like this happen. I had bursitis about 8 years ago in the other elbow, and of course the terrible fat red leg a couple of years ago, without any obvious cause for either, so I'm getting a bit paranoid.

My lower back reminded me of its existence, again, earlier this week, by twanging when I picked up a bag of shopping. I had to be pretty careful not to receive another twang for the rest of the day, otherwise I'd have been in a fair amount of pain for the following couple of days or so.

With the recent experiences I've heard 'bout my local hospital, I'm only going there if I become a zombye.

Because I didn't want to feel left out of this thread, last night I went downstairs in the dark at 3am to use the toilet and slipped down the last stair like an idiot and seem to have pulled a muscle in my thigh so now it really hurts when I walk up the stairs in some sort of ironic punishment for falling down them

I have to wear my glasses to drive at night now. String back gloves next.

Rich mentioning driving at night has just reminded me - night vision is a funny thing. About half my close/extended family are like me, and have really bad/trippy night vision, especially when various lights/lighting is involved. I presume its a genetic flaw or summat, and our ancient ancestors didn't hunt whatsoever after dusk.

I once got told off by the optician for wasting his time because me eyes were "too good".

That sounds like something a six year old would say to impress his friends but it happened.

I wasn't "too good," but I was good enough at my last appointment to not require glasses, which disappointed me, because I wanted an excuse to shop for glasses

Alas for everybody, and everybody's body.

So far my eyes don't seem to be going longsighted, though it's just a matter of time. Apparently my sister's eyes have already begun to do so. My grandad only barely needed reading glasses in his 70s and 80s, but he had excellent eyesight generally, which I definitely don't.

The elbow aids seems to have gone now, leaving me none the wiser as to what the hell was going on.

I managed to stub my toe so hard on the wii fit board under the settee that's been there unused for ten years that my toe's gone all black and my whole foot throbbed for two days. this might be the most pathetic injury in the history of humankind
