Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I thought mixing those two up was my sole domain, so phew!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I really liked the start and end of Rebecca but it lost me a bit in the middle. Also I really need to see Notorious again because I went into it knowing it was a friend's favourite Hitchcock film so I hyped it up and then was a bit disappointed.dng wrote: Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:27 pm This week I watched Rebecca, because I read the book last week. Anyway the film was pretty good (although the film was better). Also I'm stuck watching all the rest of the films in my parents extensive collection of hitchcock boxset, so i've also watched vertigo (pretty amazing) and notorious (completely amazing)
hooray for hitchcock
I have four Hitchcock films on my shelves that I still need to see (Frenzy, Torn Curtain, Family Plot, The Paradine Case), I should follow your example and watch them.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
cheers! I get mixed up between The Ladykillers and the not-very-good Coen Brothers remake of The Ladykillers. One of them has a cat in it. But which one?richschnauzer wrote: Tue Nov 23, 2021 10:48 pm Now I finally know the difference between The Ladykillers and the Lavender Hill Mob. Nice work!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I had never heard anything about notorious at all before somehow, and I loved it.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I liked the way it answered the question of what if james bond was cary grant
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
and also even more of a wildly unprofessional nob
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Today in my hitchcock mania i watched strangers on a train, which was absolutely brilliant for an hour and ten minutes, and then complete balls for twenty minutes
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
that's my favourite one
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I'll complete balls you in a minute
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
i did love most of it though. just not the tennis match or anything after.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
the baddy was such a creepy nutcase it was amazing
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Today I watched north by northwest, which is another hit o I film where Hitchcock answers the question of what if Cary Grant was James Bond, but by accident, and also his mother spends a quarter of the film telling him off
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
This was good I liked it and also it was funnier than I expected

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
It is very good
I think I read once that Ian Fleming wanted Cary Grant to play Bond, but Grant said he was too old.

He'd be too young these days.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
That's a real pity, as I reckons he'd have made an eggsbond.Bruce Sato wrote: Fri Nov 26, 2021 11:35 pm It is very good

Did you clock the bit in the background where the kid in the cafe scene puts his fingers in his ears before Eve Kendall fires the gun?dng wrote: Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:51 pm Today I watched north by northwest, which is another hit o I film where Hitchcock answers the question of what if Cary Grant was James Bond, but by accident, and also his mother spends a quarter of the film telling him off
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
the film is ruined for me now
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Good! Bwaah! Haaa! Haaaaaaaaaah!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I like being Hitler.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Geoff Hitler.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
the wrong man - this was pretty harrowing
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
but then it suddenly ends with a title card saying "its okay everything was fine in the end"
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
so maybe it wasn't harrowing at all really
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I thought you meant The Wrong Mans, starring James Corden, for a bit, and got a tad confused!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
alfred hitchcock presents james corden is dead
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
A rare foray into outright slapstick comedy from the master of suspense.

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
back to hitchcock films today, and i watched the man who knew too much, which is absolutely brilliant for 90 minutes, and then has a fairly pointless extra 20 minutes superfluously added on the end, which was a bit of a shame.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
which version? I wasn't really into the later version, but still need to see the earlier one at some point because of lovely Peter Lorre
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
it was the james stewart one
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
if it had ended at the albert hall i think i would have loved it but then it went on and on for another 20 minutes
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Oh yeah the Albert hall bit is very good
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
although considering they spend most of the film singing que sera sera, that bit should have been at wembley
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Rear window - this is one of those films like citizen Kane that I'd never seen but know absolutely the entire story of, due to cultural osmosis and also the Simpsons. But anyway it was brilliant still despite that
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
ves so good
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
The Detectives (Jasper Carrott / Robert Powell) episode 'Rear Window' is the film done for laughs in 28 minutes, and has Gareth Hunt in it!
It's jolly good fun, whereas the original is damn marvellous.

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I watched The Gay Divorcee, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, yesterday.
It was nice, the dancing was good, and overall, it was quite soothing.
7/10

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Tonight's Hitchcock film was rope, which was like a sort of proto episode of Hannibal or something. It was good I liked it
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I really liked that one too
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
The main character was even more of an amazing psychopath than the man in strangers on a train

I went "review mad" over on Letterboxd. These were all written today:
Supervixens
Cipher (baffling anime thing I may have already mentioned once upon a time
Head (aka The Monkees film (RIP Mike Nesmith))
