Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Have you thought about setting fire to your keyboard? That might help you keep warm when writing?
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
re: french film from the 1930s (directed by jean vigo,
I read that as John Virgo, and did a 'where's the cue ball going'-type chuckle to myself.

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I did the March world-movie challenge thing again and watched films from 31 different countries last month. Now it's April I naturally find myself only wanting to watch absolute trash and never see a subtitle ever again
Even though it was good

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
So tonight I watched Shadow in the Cloud, a film about Chloe Moretz having a fist-fight with a gremlin during world war 2
It was incredible

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
And then I watched Leprechaun, starring Warwick Davis and Jennifer Aniston, together at last
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)

I wrote another film article! This time it's about 3 Bad Men, a film that is not quite 100 years old (but very close):

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
also that reminds me that i should probably watch some 100 year old films again some day soon
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
but ever since i ran out of buster keatons i have been too sad to do so
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
you will get more buster keatons soon
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I don't think I've seen either of his 1923 films actually
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I'm hoping I can write about one of his other films this month too, unless it turns out that I'm quite lazy
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
you better not be quite lazy
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Lovely writings, Vom!vom wrote: Wed May 11, 2022 12:52 pm I wrote another film article! This time it's about 3 Bad Men, a film that is not quite 100 years old (but very close):

Also - 'the wheel came off', makes me chuckle far more than it probably should!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Cheers! Honestly it's even funnier in context, and with the full-on eye roll and "oh is it?" that she responds with
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
and here's another film article from me. this time about lovely Buster Keaton and his cow

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
charade - cary grant and audrey hepburn aren't sure if they're in a screwball comedy or a hitchcock thriller, so do both at the same time. it's pretty fun (although the frequency with which audrey hepburn keeps falling back in love with cary grant despite there being no good reason at all to fall back in love with cary grant makes it seem like she's suffered some sort of serious head trauma at times)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
also the theme tune played on a fairground wurlitzer sounded very like the music from the city of lost children i think (although i haven't seen that in 15 years so maybe i'm thinking of something else)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
maybe all wurlitzer music sounds like that
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
The Samurai Trilogy - 50s samurai films in which Toshiro Mifune must kill every man he sees for six hours or so, mostly because for some reason every man who sees him wants to kill him. starts relatively slowly but gets better and better mostly, and the last ten minutes or so of the last one are basically incredible, wonderful, perfect
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
all in colour too, surprisingly, for japanese films from the 50s
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
last year some time i watched the loki tv series on disney plus, which seemed to be an experiment in what would happen if you made doctor who with a 100 million dollar budget and his companion was another doctor who (answer: doctor who, but even more inconsequential somehow). today i watched doctor strange and the doctor stranges of madness on disney plus, which seemed to be an experiment into what would happen if you let sam raimi make doctor who on a billion dollar budget, with a doctor who even more repellent than colin baker, where almost every scene takes place in some location or other stolen straight from a bayonetta game, and with lots of strangely out of place violence for a kids film (answer: doctor who, but sort of revolting in some way)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
i think i hated this on a moral level
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
sounds good
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
(nothing has sounded good in years)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Orgy of the dead - lurid 60s sex nonsense, written by Ed Wood. For a film that's 90% nude women dancing in a graveyard (with occasional skeleton) this was quite boring
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Somewhat impossibly I've just watched a film with an even lower IMDB rating than that
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
It must be Bad Movie Sunday
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
(mine was The Crawlers aka Creepers aka Contamination .7)
(it was pretty terribly paced and badly acted but quite charming)

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
also that sounds quite good, in a squirm/slugs sort of way
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
the best sort of way
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
yeah definitely in that kind of territory! not as good as Slugs though. Slugs fucking rules
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I'vr still not actually ever seen slugs or squirm.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I am of course a book purist and refuse to watch the movies in case they don't live up to the majesty of my imagination
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Geostorm
this is best movie ever
I, just, wow
