Late 90s UK Amazon e-commerce rival 'Jungle' would've never purchased Bond. They'd have purchased the 'Doctor...' franchise films starring Dirk Bogarde and James Robertson Justice. :D

Oh no the Real Pain was me all along

The ending of this was so blatantly stolen from Old Joy that it left me really confused. I liked it otherwise though

This is still the only Peter Greenaway film that I've seen for some reason even though I really liked it. I don't remember Jim Davidson being in it but maybe subconsciously I did notice and that's why I never got around to watching anything else

"The Falls" is a really good Peter Greenaway film. It's actually formatted like loads of different short films strung together, except it's got a narrative all the way through it, about some sort of weird event that caused a minor cataclysm in the 70s and now loads of people are sort of like birds. It's good, I liked it, and J. Davidson is nowhere to be seen in it

A shorter thing he did in the same year (1980) is this documentary, which I think I've linked to before but I like it so much I'm going to link to it again

I've not seen that one. I've seen drowning by numbers (this is brilliant); the cook the thief his wife her lover (also pretty great); the belly of an architect (pretty good); and the pillow book (okay)

Apparently it was French produced and Japanese funded

and there are games based on it. Like The Book of Watermarks on PS1, which was JP only. Also a Taiwanese exclusive one for DOS with no translatable name.

I know these things because a streamer I watch is obsessed with Peter Greenaway and once got banned for showing a trailer for Prospero's Books which featured background micro peens, because it was supposed to depict a moving renaissance painting.

So now he likes to claim he got banned for trying to teach his viewers about Shakespeare

here is stream of Taiwanese game

This streamer also regularly plays adult japanese adventure games on PC-88, PC-98 and Windows 95 and DOS, that contain gratuitous naked animes and sexytime, for which he has never been banned

I've now shook this vibe out of my system, and the last two films I watched were enjoyable 110 minute sing-y romcoms Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2. Both directed by Peter Greenaway. Probably. :D

Another day, another romcom. The remake (and role reversal) of Overboard. It's nowhere as good as the Kurt Russell / Goldie Hawn orig, but I liked it. :)

And I'll keep the fact that I also watched Pitch Perfect 3 to myself... :D

Also about 2/3rds of the way through it, there's a scene that if it doesn't bring you to tears, then you must have a heart of stone! :)

and also all the long nights, which was some low key japanese film about a boy who has panic attacks and a girl who has pms induced anxiety break downs, and they work in a small office making miniature planetarium projectors for schools, and become friends, and that's it really.

it was just weirdly nice seeing a film about nice people being nice to each other to be honest

I've been going to the cinema a lot more this year because I can go on the tram and also I've made some new Cinema Friends and they are cool and I like them

this week I saw Sister Midnight with one of them, which was kinda weirdly paced but also unusual and good, and then Lost Highway with another one of them which is slowly becoming one of my favourite David Lynch films

I'm going to see Flow tomorrow but I've failed to enlist any company for that one
