I have seen the three Godfeathers and Apocalypse Now and I think that's it. The third Godfeather would have been great if Pacino had remembered how to be Michael Corleone (and had a better haircut, but apparently that was Coppola's fault) and if it been a struggle between Michael and Tom Hagen as in the original concept, and it would have been better with Winona Ryder but that wasn't really the sticking point. As it is the film just sort of happens.

The first two are staggeringly good though.
Also it is simultanously a great idea and really really funny that Coppola turned the films into a TV series and added all the scenes that were just as good as the ones that made it to the film but were cut for time or pacing. I think you end up with twice as much James Caan that way.

everybody in the godfather 3 is so incomprehensibly stupid and incompetent its basically like a parody of a gangster film without intentionally being a parody of a gangster film (and also probably being a more realistic depiction of organised criminals also)

I watched WarGames for the upteenth time, this afternoone.
It's surprisingly watchable, and I don't want to hit M. Broderick in the faece like I do in Ferris Bueller's Day Orf.

Today I watched Sherlock Jr, the Buster Keaton film, in an actual cinema. It was very good and I liked it a lot.
Also I deactivated my Letterboxd account because I was sick of bloody Letterboxd.
Also on top of that, I uploaded
this (sorry for posting that in the wrong thread)

If you like horror, comedy, time loops, and love letters to 80s slasher movies, then you might like The Final Girls.
I did.

I watched the second half of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, on Film4, this afternoon. It really is crackin', and they should throw the live action films into the bin.

I really liked the first animated Spider-Man film, and also the second one, right up to the point where I realised the second one was actually part 1 of 2. I still like it, but I'll like it a lot more once I've seen the third one.

I watched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem film again, because it's on Netflix now (although seemingly only for another couple of weeks). It's so good. In a similar way to the animated Spiderman films.
I also watched Good One. That is the title and that is my review.

i watched weapons today, and eddington last week, and i absolutely hated them both.
also i watched the coen brothers version of macbeth, and it was okay i suppose. it looked very nice, at least, but seemed a bit lifeless really

i also watched this film the other day, and it was good. which was nice

weirdly, that synopsis (which is repeated twice just for good measure) on wikipedia is for a completely different film, for some reason

oh and also i watched caught stealing, which i liked a lot really. it was very 90s (setting, style), even if for some reason darren aronofsky decided to have most of the 90s music not actually being 90s music for some reason, but the idles trying to sound like 90s music (and also the clash)

The only thing that I know about Weapons is that it was made by a man called ZACH CREGGER
Also Eddington seems to be yet another in a long line of modern films made by absolute twats.
Seriously, everyone who gets to direct a film these days seems to be some sort of fuckwit who goes on about how radical they are but then you see what they've done and it's the thickest pile of shit ever. (See: Saltburn with its "wanking in the bath" thing that everyone went mental over, despite it the fact that the scene sounds more like a night-in gone hilariously wrong)

saltburn was written/directed by one of those utterly tedious posh british film idiots who seem to think the one overriding wish and desire of every non-posh person is simply to actually be posh (also non posh people are evil and can never be trusted)

I quite liked Weapons - it was a stupid film that knows it a stupid film but also pretends to think it’s a clever film. Which is a bit annoying I guess.

I wish the new Tron film had JJ Lehto in it, rather than Jared Leto. I'd watch that, for sure.

He-Man: Why is Skeletor forcing us to listen to The Fratellis, Man-At-Arms?
Man-At-Arms: Because he hates both us and music, He-Man.
He-Man: I just hope Jo Wiley isn't Evil-Lynn.

Jared Leto is a weirdo who has done lots of sketchy things. He was the guy who played Joker in Suicide Squad (the first one, not the sort-of-remake that happened about two years later for some absurd corporate reason). As part of his "method acting", he sent "gifts" to the rest of the principal cast, which included things like used condoms, blood-sodden tampons, etc, supposedly sent from "his character".
...Oh, and he's been accused of sexual abuse against lots of women and teenage girls, because of course that would be part of it as well.
Jared Leto's finest moment in cinema is when he is brutally killed by a Huey-Lewis-And-The-News-rhapsodizing Patrick Bateman in the movie version of American Psycho. The latter character is, amusingly enough, played by someone who would shortly go on to play Batman.
Also, let me expand on my pet theory!
I feel the main problem with cinema now is the lack of humanity and actual intelligence, which manifests itself in a number of ways across different "auteurs":
* dullard centrist politics that cannot be apllied to the real world and help no one (Alex Garland)
* arrogant upper-class shithousery (Emerald Fennell)
* desperately unfunny attempts at comedy (that "The Roses" thing, all superhero movies after the first couple of Spiderman films)
* dopey misinterpretations of other people's vastly superior work (whoever it was who did the 2018 Suspiria, and Yorgos Lanthimos who did Poor Things, which I understand is a point-missing travesty compared to Alasdair Gray's original novel)
* straight up fucking idiots thinking that anything they fart out is in any way worthwhile (that bellend who made "Bone Tomahawk", NY-based art types trying to be transgressive but are t***p voters who are probably dying of starvation now, or sleeping rough, or otherwise wanking for pennies).
