I wish Balor had been in To The Manor Born.

It would've given the show more replay value.

I was going to play devil's advocate and argue that there's no rule necessitating that an acronym must be pronounced according to the initial phoneme of each constituent (e.g. /g/raphics not /dʒ/raphics), but I'm blanking on any major exceptions. Bruce, help.

My main objection is more that /dʒɪf/ is a space already occupied by jiff "shortening of jiffy; a short span of time, 'It'll be done in a jiff!'" (which i swear was also used in some media production circles to mean "1/100 of a second" but can find no evidence to corroborate this), while /gɪf/ is sitting there unoccupied for the taking.

I guess you could say "we don't pronounce <NATO> as 'nay-tcho' even though common varieties of English realize the <tr> cluster as a weird kinda /tʃɹ/-dealie ("tchrip" rather than "tuh-rip/ter-rip".)

The original book is also one of the most baffling things I have ever read and to discover that over 150 sequels have been written by various people is absolutely weird.
