I clearly went to the wrong uni

we had Ridge Racer 2, Point Blank, and either Time Crisis or Virtual Cop I can't remember now, but it had the "Action!" pedal

there were plenty of other reasons why it was the wrong uni

essex also had time crisis, street fighter 3 or alpha or something, plus a bunch of pinball tables i can't remember the names of (probably they had the terminator 2 one) but that i was terrible at, like i always am at pinball tables, whether real or virtual

plus loads of pool tables

(when I went in there ten years ago or so there wasn't even any pool tables, let alone any arcade machines or anything. and also the pints no longer cost 60p)

Boo. Stupid modern boredom

it was £1.30 for a pint of watered down fosters in a plastic glass at UH

the only thing i can even conceive of using a time machine for is to go back to 90s arcades armed with as many 50ps as the future can provide

yeah, i think essex was probably about the same (the 60 or 70p pints were happy hour specials on a tuseday and thursday i think, 6pm till 7pm)

it is kind of wild that the primary usage of student union fees was subsidising beer prices (and maybe also making sure jacket potatoes were affordable)

The pub about a 3 minute walk away from our campus used to sell a pint of Banks's or Carling for a puon to anyone waving a stoodent card about, so it was a good place for 16 year olds to have their first pint under the watchful eye of their tutors. :D

I don't recall my university having any arcade games. They did still have the cheap pints though obviously

All universities and colleges should have a G-Loc Air Battle 360 degree arcade cabinet installed in their dining halls, but with Granny's Garden loaded into the machine.

What happened to Consolevania then? They seemed to be getting increasingly disheartened that they weren't getting more viewers, and then just stopped?

They only got as far as 1994. Just when it was getting good!

No one seems to know (other than them, presumably); Rab was doing Patreon-exculsive stuff in the summer to tide them over, but that dried up as well. The suspicion is that the real-life stuff they alluded to earlier in the year (Rab moving house, Ryan having some sort of crisis) has got in the way, and perhaps they've lost access to their studio space as well, but they haven't said anything for a couple of months now.

:sad face:

Ryan did seem increasingly depressed, I hope everything's OK. I thought for sure you would know!

Yup, that's understandable when you're making decent funny stuff for 8 thousand or so views, and then some no-effort slop is bringing in 10 times as many eyebaals.

This afternoon I sat in a virtual queue on the Nintendo shop website for 35 minutes, only to find when I got to the front of the queue that absolutely everything Zelda and Switch 2 related had sold out: console, controller, carry case, physical copy of Ocarina of Time remake. Pisssssssss.

also is this all limited edition stuff, like when they decided you were only allowed to buy the 3d mario game collection for a week, or that they'd only make 17 miniature super nintendos for the whole entire world?

I think it's limited edition, but one never knows. I found the carry case elsewhere and bought two, so at least my sister and I have something properly Zelda-ish out of the anniversary.

I suppose Link's face is a bit odd but I'm not really bothered. It's not like you have to look at it that much in the game.

No Link will ever be as good as Wind Waker Link anyway.
