Thank God we're back to three matches a day.

A mere two matches per 24 hours was akin to a spell in Guantanamo Bay!

I missed most of the first one, which was supposed to be excellent, then watched all of the second one, which was mostly terrible

Albania have a player called "a yeti" (probably not correct spelling), which makes for some pretty good commentary

"a yeti heads it away" etc etc

Great stuff, that! The emotion, the chaos, the desire, the skill - pure football!

Andros Townsend, the co-commentator, groaned when the ref blew the final whistle. I love that. He was genuinely wrapped up in the moment. :)

It is apparently 'Ajeti', which reminds me that the (Albanian) mother of one of my sister's primary school classmates had the first name Ajete, which is presumably connected. Albanian is rather an interesting language and I would like to know more about it.

I've been a Southgate apologist in the past, but that was abysmal, and it had some serious Graham Taylor Euro 92 vibes going on there. :(

Also, I thought the France / Netherlands game was pretty mediocre, except for the offside goal, which, as an ex-goalie, I 100% agreed with the officials decision! :)

On the positive side, we will never have to suffer through Southgateball again.
