Macclesfield beat Harlow Town 2-0 in the first round 10 or so years ago. So Crystal Palace are as good as Harlow Town, officially

quite weird that nicky butt's turned up in this thread twice in two days, 20 years after anyone last remembered he existed

Nicky Butt is one of my dad's favourite players, probably because he basically played the same sort of football as my dad but at Premiership / international level.

(My dad has played for a team that played in the FA Cup, but he wasn't playing for them when they did that.)

By contrast I refused to play football at all after the age of 10-11, due to increasing hatred of contact sports. No one ever got me to play rugby, despite it being 'compulsory' at secondary school.

Rugby was meant to be compulsory at our school, too, but noone would take part, so after two failed lessons of 'rugby onion', we went back to football, basketball, and badminton, which most of the lads were fine with.

i like the way that man united football director man wilcox appoints managers:

russell martin (southampton): sexy beard, hair
ruben amorim (man united): sexy beard, hair
michael carrick (man united): sexy beard, hair

Oh wait I forgot Rudd van nistelrooy too (sexy beard, hair, one of the worst managers ever)

Although his worst manager ever status largely only manifested itself after he'd left and gone to leicester

i don't know if anyone's watching this man city newcastle match, but they've just had the absolutely shittest disallowed VAR goal just about ever, spending five whole minutes zooming further and further into haaland's boot until it was so pixellated and blocky it looked like some sort of spectrum colour clash image

Re: Soccerball Therad

Posted: Tue Jan 13, 2026 9:28 pm

and haaland didn't even touch the ball at any point, which made it even better

senegal scored in injury time but the ref disallowed it because a moroccan player did a ridiculous dive. then the ref gave morocco a penalty because another moroccan player did a ridiculous dive. then senegal just refused to play for 15 minutes and all stormed off the pitch until sadio mane finally dragged them all back out again. then the moroccan player who'd dived to win the world cup strode up, dinked the absolute shittest penalty ever into the senegal goalie's hands, then burst into tears and then the ref blew for full time just because he was bored of it all or something i don't know
