We've mentioned Saturday morning kids telly show No. 73, before, haven't we? I'm sure we have?

I rewatched this, earlier: No. 73: S01E01
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdxgBMgei4k

And as a BBC boy (Saturday Superstore all the way!), watching that first episode of No. 73 was fascinating.

The Guardians
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQsICPfFQUM

Made in 1971 by LWT, and set in the early 80s where a Fascist coup befalls England.

I've just watched the first episode - not bad at all!

I watched all (13 eps) of it, then after the final part, I needed a couple of quick Red Dwarfs to enable me to function again. :)

I uploaded the first 13 episodes of Murun Buchstangsangur, the early misfit Channel 4 animation from the 80s, to Youtube.

Almost an hour of "Murun"

I had to rip it from another place via unusual methods (screen recording) and then try and stitch it all together. You can see the progress bar just peeking through at the bottom of the first one, annoyingly. But it's all fine and watchable.

Hooray. I noticed that come up in my youtube recommendations recently, and watched it without realising you'd uploaded it (such is the weird length youtube seems to go to to hide all your friends videos from you as much as possible)

I agree, but how much would ongoing hosting costs be, do you reckon? I've really no idea.

A reet shame, 'bout the site, mind. :(

Apparently the main reason why they've deleted the entire site was because random third parties kept trying to shake them down for using old photos and bits of music and stuff. They did want to keep it up online but the copyright wankers targeting them made it too much of a hassle.

My understanding is that they've made a full backup of the final version of the site, and they're hoping to be able to distribute that some day.

Oh, and I uploaded this odd one-off Denis Norden programme from 1992 a while back:

Denis Norden's Trailer Cinema

I only found out a few days ago that before Bodie (Lewis Collins) and Doyle (Martin Shaw) were The Professionals, they were the baddies (although not named Bodie and Doyle) in an episode of The New Avengers.

This changes everything! :D

I watched the ITV sitcom Hope It Rains, for the first time in over 30 years, and it's a pretty decent show, in a gentle comedy/drama kinda way.

As a fan of The Darling Buds of May, I fancied giving the remake, The Larkins, a go. Before watching, I had a little dig around about the show, and saw that the two main love interests hated each other, and the one had tried to get the other kicked off the show, and when that failed, they left the show themselves after the first series.

This info has put me off watching the bally thing, but would it put YOU off? Am I being a bit of a wuss about this? :D

I've recently been writing an old-telly-themed blog called Blammo (I couldn't think of a suitable name). There's a bunch of stuff up on there already that I've been adding to over the last couple of months:

https://blammo.site/

My major project on the site at the moment is a rundown of the 1979 ITV strike. The second part is going up tomorrow morning - I also have a Granada TV christmas post to go up after that.

Excellent. That brass eye thing sounds interesting. How come its only being shown as a live show (or whatever you'd call it)?

I was aggrieved to learn there was a recent showing at the little cinema just round the corner from me and I didn't know about it and missed it. I might have been doing something else that day (I forget), but it's something I would have made an effort to go to had I known. Maybe it'll come round again at some point.

The reason it's a live-only thing is apparently due to complicated copyright reasons - there's loads of stuff in the outtakes that would require proper clearences if officially released, and most of those people (celebs, politicans) would never agree to it. There's tons of material that never even got as far as being properly edited.

This is a good site and I am reading it.

On the subject of comedy Radio Times listings, the Goon Show was playing fast and loose with plot synopses in the late 1950s at the latest. I can dig out some references if it would be of interest.

New article on Blammo:

Not Keeping Up With Auntie: The Very Brief Existence Of The “ITV Micro”

(This was originally posted on my personal blog, and I moved it here because I've had to take a load of stuff down from that in order to not get hate mail for saying that bastards are bastards - nothing has really happened, just more that I realised I was in a bit of a vulnerable position)

Well, technically it would be clips of avant garde French films that were about how capitalism traps us all, with added boobs. And when you accessed it, there would be a permanent red triangle in the corner of the screen.

At Home With Vic And Bob - all the links (from 27th December 1993, BBC2)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaX7I0JpkgY

Uploaded by me, from stitching together someone else's uploads to archive.org. This is all the continuity hosted by Vic and Bob as the links between all the programmes on their own theme night. Included in the original broadcast were Mike Leigh's Nuts In May, a best-of compilation of Rutland Weekend Television, and the pilot of Shooting Stars (which is available elsewhere on Youtube).
