Landon Donovan wears a toupee.

That is my hottest World Cup take.

I was reasonably satisfied with England against Costa Rica. And we looked like we had a bit of energy to our play, which was nice.

True. I think the direct football of the Czechs will give them problems, too.

They were playing more direct than a Big Sam team.

Also it seems no-one, not the commentators, not fifa, not the screen titles people, knows if it should be Czechia or Czech Republic. There was no consistency

I don't much care for 'Czechia'. Czech Republic sounds nicer to my ears/ears/nose.

As for usage, in terms of the country itself, from what I can tell, it's about 50/50.

Other thoughts...

Canada were mediocre, but deserved a pont, because B&H didn't do enough for the win.

Pair of guys (Paraguay) were rubb, and Amelicus were good, with impressive energy levels.

"Direct football" sounds extraordinary. It sounds like a football match piped right into your veins, in chemical form

The Netherlands were a bit better (and less dirty) than I thought they'd be, and Japan were too passive for large portions of the game. I'm pleased for Japan that they got the tie (draw), though.

Holland seem to have that same warping effect on the media that Brazil do, where they still talk about them as if they're playing beautiful 70s liquid football instead of the cyncical depressing filth they've been inflicting on everyone for the entirety of the 21 st century
