You should sue Oasis!

I'm currently suing indie rock funsters Athlete for foot damage!

I have presumably told the story before of how Supergrass bankrupted my college's student union.

The ball committee for the 2000 college ball (one of the leading lights of which was someone from my year at school - I didn't know him very well but he was all right from what I remember) thought it would be a good idea to book Supergrass as the headline act, which presumably was made a bit easier by the fact that they're from Oxford originally (which I only just discovered). I didn't go to the ball (although I've been to every one since - 2022 was probably the last time, though) so I don't know whether it was worth it from a musical point of view, but from a financial point of view it absolutely wasn't. It bankrupted the student union, which had to go cap in hand to the college authorities to be bailed out, and caused considerable difficulties with funding and organisation thereafter. Arguably the college should never have given them that degree of freedom in the first place, but anyway.

I went to a college reunion dinner back in 2010-ish, and the guy from my year at school was there and it was all quite pleasant. However, someone else who was there couldn't resist saying to him "I see from the college gazette that you're donating money to the college. How long will it take to pay back thirty grand?" He had to laugh.

Whoopsie

I don't think it cost the Harlow Square that much, it would've bankrupted them as well.

Also, unintentional pun on line 2?

It's quite nice to know that The Cure haven't lost the knack of writing a decent miserable tune. Hurrah for The Cure!

I watched a play from the national theatre the other day that had a soundtrack by PJ Harvey. Which mostly proved that normal people don’t have the vocal range to sing PJ Harvey songs.

This is pretty epic though: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rb6GoV- ... p=2AESkAIB

I have no answer, other than that Bill Oddie really took his music seriously (Funky Gibbon aside). Although if memory serves all his music was written in collaboration with another fellow, so maybe the other fellow provided a big whack of the composing / arranging support.
