it is a minefield to be sure.

in racing sims for example, when setting up the car, i want the fuel in litres not gallons, the tyre pressure in PSI rather than kPA, ride height in CM or MM, rather than inches, spring strength in NM not lbs/in. All over the place

is stupit

Cubits are good, because they're one of the few measurements whose overall length includes the outstretched middle finger!

YEAH! REBEL MEASUREMENTS TAKE NO SHIT FROM ANYONE! YEAH! SCREW YOU, DISTANCE!

Work is an absolutely bizarre hodgepodge of UoMs. We measure material in linear meters but the cores they're mounted on in inches. Finished bag dimensions are in mm, but headspace measurements in inches. I'm pretty sure at least one of our tests measures results in grams/inch which is just a great big fuck you.

also thank yeshua that the murcan space agency don't ever confuse metric and imperial. On O rings for instance.

Imagine the pinch on the face of the person who rejected the forms. I've seen that type of face too many times.

I mistakenly thought you'd written 'foreskin' in there, so I was going to write 'I use mine for measuring purposes as well!', but then I realised you'd hadn't written 'foreskin', so I'd better say nothing! :)

Where do centimeter cubes stand in all of this? I always liked those. They were like pixels that existed in real life.

A couple weeks ago, I requested a roll of 50 metres. Since this was being slit down from a full-width roll, I figured we could keep the other half too, which would have given us 100m.

Apparently 0, 100 meters was interpreted as 100 lbs, and since film is incredibly lightweight, this resulted in a pallet containing 8100m of material delivered to us.

For some reason I liked sticklebricks despite the fact they were terrible, and you couldn't really make anything with them apart from 3D Mondrian sculptures
