egg files
egg files
I'm balancing out January misery by watching all of the X files for some reason
But that's not 100 years old
But that's not 100 years old
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I want to believe... the X-Files is a 100 years olde
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
i tried watching all of the x files once but gave up at series 5 or so because it was just too much
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I've just reached the start of season 3
you're never going to stop me ever
I'm going to watch Millennium and the Lone Gunmen spin off as well, I don't give a fuck, it's my life

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
excellent. i have never seen a lone gunmens episode and i hope i never will
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
nobody has
Re: egg files
I have split this into a new thread in case I have anything interesting to say about egg files
Re: egg files
...
Re: egg files
I just remembered they made some new x files
Re: egg files
they did, apparently a few of them were quite good
Re: egg files
I watched the big season 2 end / season 3 beginning episodes last night in which they proved that vaccines were evil
I hope this wild conspiracy theory didn't catch on
I hope this wild conspiracy theory didn't catch on
Re: egg files
I'm quite looking forward to the new episodes for some reason, but I have seven season of the X Files, two films, three seasons of Millennium and one of The Lone Gunmen to watch first
Re: egg files
I thought maybe I'd seen some Millennium before but apparently I was thinking of Dark Skies which was a rip-off rather than a spin-off. I got quite excited when I realised that the star of Millennium was Lance Henriksen! I love that guy
I did watch Space: Above and Beyond at the time though which was made by some of the same people, but wasn't a related show

Re: egg files
I watched some of millennium but genuinely cannot remember the plot of any of it. Just that it had lance henriksen and Locke from lost in it
Re: egg files
Something about serial killers or something who knows
Re: egg files
Locke was in an X Files too! He was a small-town sheriff who didn't get much to do, it was an episode about a serial killer's granddaughter continuing to kill because DNA or something
Re: egg files
Also I watched one whole series of new x files, and it was not good. It was all vaccine conspiracy nonsense again, too, for some reason. And the hero was some sort of YouTube alex Jones style conspiracy man. Awful. I actually felt sorry for Gillian Anderson for having to be in it
Re: egg files
Actually there was one quite funny episode with Murray from flight of the conchords in it. That was good (due to Murray from flight of the conchords)
Re: egg files
I used to watch space above and beyond. I think that was the beginning of Jim Robinson from neighbours ten years or so of American tv domination (which only ended when he made the mistake of being in Indiana Jones, which was an actual film, and therefore the end of being allowed on television I suppose)
Re: egg files
ah yes, the Robinson Era
I mostly remember him being in 24
I think

Re: egg files
also I'm tracking the episodes of egg files that I watch on a spreadsheet and giving them a rating out of 10
so far my only 10 is "Beyond The Sea" from season 1 because it's strange and sad and has Major Briggs from Twin Peaks in it

Re: egg files
my lowest rating was for "Jersey Devil", also from season 1, because it was just worthless and boring
Re: egg files
At least half of series one is pointless and boring isn't it?. Then series two was mostly always good. Then series three was maybe tw thirds good. Then the ratios went ever downwards and not even terminator 2 could save it
Re: egg files
Those are my at least ten years ago recollections of x files at least
Re: egg files
in season one I rated 9 episodes less than 6/10
in season two I rated 7 episodes less than 6/10
I think general consensus is that season 3 is the best but I will have to watch 22 episodes more before I can confirm my thoughts on it. give me a week

Re: egg files
Also yes that Major Briggs episode is wonderful. Has anyone ever written an essay about how the x files was just twin peaks without the schoolkids bits and the excellent music yet, because they should, and also I always meant to
Re: egg files
Where mulder is dale cooper, skinner is david lynch, and scully is whatever Miguel Ferrers character is called I can't remember now
Re: egg files
The smoking man is the log lady
Re: egg files
that episode definitely has major Twin Peaks vibes. also my second favourite episode so far (the circus / sideshow one) has Michael J. Anderson in it. The old lady that then mysteriously becomes a different old lady and Hawk have been in episodes too but not particularly good ones. I'm probably deriving at least 20% of my enjoyment from "recognising guest stars" so far
one of the ones I watched last night has strange Mulder dream sequences while he's in a coma inexplicably surviving certain death without a scratch on his body and that feels like it would have been a million times better if Twin Peaks had done it

I was once vaguely interested in The Lone Gunmans because I thought the speccy one with long bond hair was cute and that made it watchable.

Re: egg files
That is the only eggs-file I know, despite my father and his live-in girlfriend being avid watchers thereof

Re: egg files
I tried to watch all the egg files a few years ago, but after about 4 seasons I just couldn't stand the on/off plot threads that never go anywhere
Re: egg files
I think that's roughly where I gave up when it was originally on
Although I'm not sure as I'm pretty sure I've seen the one with Brian Cranston in it and that's season 6 apparently

It pleases me that you only know the second and most forgotten spin-off and not the actual showAn Unicorn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 2:39 amI was once vaguely interested in The Lone Gunmans because I thought the speccy one with long bond hair was cute and that made it watchable.
Also I like his Ramones t-shirts
Re: egg files
Re: egg files
That was the best episode of anything ever.
However, the rest of the series was so bad that Scully had to regenerate into Thatcher.

I mean, I know all the memetic bits: "I want to believe," "the truth is out there," something called The Smoking Man, aliens???, the new-agey space-whistling theme, but I'm not sure I ever sat through an episode?vom wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:13 amIt pleases me that you only know the second and most forgotten spin-off and not the actual showAn Unicorn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 2:39 amI was once vaguely interested in The Lone Gunmans because I thought the speccy one with long bond hair was cute and that made it watchable.

Then again I sat through episodes of The Gun Loanmen and don't remember them either, so.

Re: egg files
It was made in the 1990s, that was a hundred years ago innit?

Re: egg files
technically I think that was a thousand years ago
Re: egg files
weirdly the furthest away time now seems to be 2019
Re: egg files
like that years a whole world entirely of its own
Re: egg files
somewhere separate from the before and after times
