I watched the big season 2 end / season 3 beginning episodes last night in which they proved that vaccines were evil

I hope this wild conspiracy theory didn't catch on

I'm quite looking forward to the new episodes for some reason, but I have seven season of the X Files, two films, three seasons of Millennium and one of The Lone Gunmen to watch first

I thought maybe I'd seen some Millennium before but apparently I was thinking of Dark Skies which was a rip-off rather than a spin-off. I got quite excited when I realised that the star of Millennium was Lance Henriksen! I love that guy

I did watch Space: Above and Beyond at the time though which was made by some of the same people, but wasn't a related show

I watched some of millennium but genuinely cannot remember the plot of any of it. Just that it had lance henriksen and Locke from lost in it

Locke was in an X Files too! He was a small-town sheriff who didn't get much to do, it was an episode about a serial killer's granddaughter continuing to kill because DNA or something

Also I watched one whole series of new x files, and it was not good. It was all vaccine conspiracy nonsense again, too, for some reason. And the hero was some sort of YouTube alex Jones style conspiracy man. Awful. I actually felt sorry for Gillian Anderson for having to be in it

Actually there was one quite funny episode with Murray from flight of the conchords in it. That was good (due to Murray from flight of the conchords)

I used to watch space above and beyond. I think that was the beginning of Jim Robinson from neighbours ten years or so of American tv domination (which only ended when he made the mistake of being in Indiana Jones, which was an actual film, and therefore the end of being allowed on television I suppose)

also I'm tracking the episodes of egg files that I watch on a spreadsheet and giving them a rating out of 10

so far my only 10 is "Beyond The Sea" from season 1 because it's strange and sad and has Major Briggs from Twin Peaks in it

my lowest rating was for "Jersey Devil", also from season 1, because it was just worthless and boring

At least half of series one is pointless and boring isn't it?. Then series two was mostly always good. Then series three was maybe tw thirds good. Then the ratios went ever downwards and not even terminator 2 could save it

in season one I rated 9 episodes less than 6/10

in season two I rated 7 episodes less than 6/10

I think general consensus is that season 3 is the best but I will have to watch 22 episodes more before I can confirm my thoughts on it. give me a week

Also yes that Major Briggs episode is wonderful. Has anyone ever written an essay about how the x files was just twin peaks without the schoolkids bits and the excellent music yet, because they should, and also I always meant to

Re: egg files

that episode definitely has major Twin Peaks vibes. also my second favourite episode so far (the circus / sideshow one) has Michael J. Anderson in it. The old lady that then mysteriously becomes a different old lady and Hawk have been in episodes too but not particularly good ones. I'm probably deriving at least 20% of my enjoyment from "recognising guest stars" so far

one of the ones I watched last night has strange Mulder dream sequences while he's in a coma inexplicably surviving certain death without a scratch on his body and that feels like it would have been a million times better if Twin Peaks had done it

That was the best episode of anything ever.

However, the rest of the series was so bad that Scully had to regenerate into Thatcher.

I mean, I know all the memetic bits: "I want to believe," "the truth is out there," something called The Smoking Man, aliens???, the new-agey space-whistling theme, but I'm not sure I ever sat through an episode?

Then again I sat through episodes of The Gun Loanmen and don't remember them either, so.
