egg files
Re: egg files
Just watched "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" and that might be my second 10/10 episode I think
When people say "the best episodes are the ones Darin Morgan wrote"... that is hard to disagree with

Re: egg files
(he also wrote the carnival sideshow one, and the one with Rhys Darby in it. and two others in this season that I am extremely looking forward to)
Re: egg files
also I watched one that had Jack Black and Giovanni Ribisi in it and that was quite good too
Re: egg files
I watched "Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'" tonight, which is the final episode that Darin Morgan wrote (until they revived it and he wrote two more). I quite distinctly remembered the opening scene of this one from when I first saw it in the 90s but nothing really else. Turns out it's one of the most dizzyingly clever and intricate things I've ever seen, hooray.
Re: egg files
is that the one thats like an in universe tv show about the x-files itself?
Re: egg files
No, it's like a semi-Rashomon kinda thing with the story being told by multiple unreliable narrators - I think the one you're referring to might be "X-Cops" which comes later on, but I'm not sure
Re: egg files
oh yeah i think i remember that one, but not much. maybe i should watch it again.
also i looked it up and it turns out darin morgan was also the fluke man creature for some reason

Re: egg files
ves. I think he's in another episode (in season 4 maybe) as an actor, presumably without the fluke man suit
his brother (Glen) was working on the show before him, so I think he kind of got involved almost accidentally.

Re: egg files
then perfected it, then left for 20 years
Re: egg files
I'm still watching egg files
Tonight I watched Leonard Betts, which is about a man from Robocop who is entirely made of cancer and eats cancer and can give birth to copies of himself
I love the egg files

Re: egg files
I wish I could give birth to copies of myself.
Re: egg files
I watched the second film tonight and Jesus Christ that is possibly the low point so far
Absolutely terrible
There may have been a few episodes that were worse but at least they weren't 105 minutes long
Also since I last posted in this thread I have watched two seasons of Millennium (I couldn't handle a third, it's so bad, apart from the episodes Darin Morgan wrote and one about Lance Henriksen being confused by the internet) and also The Lone Gunmen which confusingly feels more dated than any of the earlier episodes of the other shows, but was quite charming in its own silly way. And also chillingly predicted 9/11 in its first episode
Just the revival episodes left to go, now

Re: egg files
I actually quite enjoyed the Robert Patrick seasons
Re: egg files
I have been watching the X-Files for almost two solid years
Re: egg files
also there's a big plot point in the second film where a psychic paedophile (Billy Connolly) says "don't give up!" to Scully and for the rest of the film they keep saying "what did he mean by that?" and... like... it's a totally generic thing that makes complete sense as something to say to a person investigating a crime?
I don't understand how the writing was so bad, or why anyone was up for coming back to the X-Files after a six year break for THIS script

Re: egg files
on a more positive note, the film stars Xzibit and I really hope they just got him because his name starts with X
Re: egg files
yes, that x files film is just completely abysmal in every way
Re: egg files
x files was 30 years old the other day also
Re: egg files
vom has been watching it for 31 of those years now
Re: egg files
I have finished the X Files now, two years after I started watching
The revival seasons were definitely better than that terrible second film, the mythology stuff was not great but the standalone episodes were fun
