i have often thought about getting my hairy back and shoulders zapped. Sounds a bit ouchy. I too have coarse hair, due to Greek I suppose. When i used to shave it was like when Jeff Goldblum tried to shave in The Fly.

Re: Pictures that amuse me
Eh, I might have overdramatised it for comedic effect. It's more like pressing a thumbtack against your flesh without piercing than a hypodermic shot, certainly not as bad as a tattoo, say. Plus, backs tend to have a lower concentration of nerve endings compared to faces, so the intensity of the pain would be less.
Really, I'm more annoyed by the tedium (1 hour drive, 1 hour zap, 1 hour return), the slow progress (I've been doing this for 5 months and only gotten ¾ of my facechin, with moustache and neckchin remaining), and the expense ($90 (£4)/week for EVER and it isn't covered by insurance)

I've never heard a Full English/All-day Breakfast called a West End Grill. Also, I think the Pet Shop Boys should be brought in to remake their first major hit, for product promotional purposes...

Why does that WEST END GRILL label look so unsettling to me? I feel like it should say ATOMIC WAR instead for some reason
Also all the other ones in the range remind me why I hated food in general when I was tiny

Re: Pictures that amuse me
I just realised that at some point they relaunched it as "London Grill", possibly during the late 80s / early 90s. And I realised that because I remembered a League Against Tedium routine that I didn't see live, but which was mentioned in an interview with either Stewart Lee or Simon Munnery, which was an endless series of photos of the 90s era tin and gurning faces while someone yelled "LAAHHHHNDAHHN GRILL! COS LIFE AIN'T HEALTHY! LAHHHHHNDAHHHN GRILL! EAT IT AND SHAAAAAT AAAAAAAP!"

There used to be a cafe place called the Richmond Grill in Portsmouth. we used to eat there every time we went shopping therein the 1980s. I’m not sure if that counts as more or less posh than a big standard London grill.

Speaking of which:
The lost Tyneside factory which was once the biggest of its type in Britain
Lines included tinned sliced beef, mince and onions, and sliced roast pork with gravy and stuffing.
In the 1950s, the sides of buses carried the Tyne brand advert for its So-Taist-Ee beef and vegetable extract, and in 1964 the company won the Prix d’Honneur in Paris for its tinned sliced roast beef.
Such heady heights attracted the attention of the Spiller Group, which acquired Tyne Brand in 1967 and turned the North Shields factory over to pet food production in 1973. Three years later the works closed with the loss of 300 jobs.
It gets better:
On December 22, 1976, the North Tyneside Community Development project organised a public meeting to keep the factory open and distributed 1,000 leaflets.
Two people turned up, and only one of the advertised speakers.
Also... A post-Star Wars advert for Yeoman meat filling, later absorbed into Tyne Brand Food (For Humans)
Richmond Upon Thames has a reputation of being quite posh, so they probably were trying to go upmarket, in much the same way as Mars Ice Cream did.
The only times I've been to Richmond is to go to Richmond Park. Other than two other moments, one being in the late 80s where my family visited the utterly pointless Innovations store - we looked about in for ten minutes while yuppie salesmen blabbed to each other, and then we left.
The other time was in the late 90s when we were going through Richmond on our way home. In the general area we passed through, there then lived Father Ted star Dermot Morgan. He died of a heart attack a few days later. So, avoid Richmond if you can, unless you want to die or have your time wasted.

I seem to recall not being impressed by either Tyne Brand food products, Tynesoft computer games, or Super Gran, which was produced by Tyne Tees television.CandyDarling wrote: ↑Fri Oct 15, 2021 3:09 pm

There's a link or connection between the three in there somewhere, if only I could work it out...

I might as well post this here. It's from a public post on my Patreon, and it's a reworking of something we saw not too long ago. (It's a bit big, sorry about that)

Re: Pictures that amuse me
I desperately wanted the Trivial Pursuit board game for Fistmass, but they weren't available for love nor money, so I ended up receiving a TP knock off that involved travelling through space via answering questions about which year Britain joined the EEC. It was pretty good, actually, and when I eventually got around to playing actual Trivial Pursuit, I realised that I preferred my knock-off game!

I think that chap is browsing through Mask Direct magazine, which isn't half as good as Your Mask Monthly.
