Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I watched the most recent spider man film. it was utterly pointless
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
i quite liked the previous two new spider man films as they were quite good fun but this wasn't much fun at all really
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Thor 4 - the first half of this is a comedy where none of the jokes are funny at all. The second half of this is a comedy where one of the jokes is quite funny
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Occasionally it looks lovely though, christian bale's a decent baddie, and there’s a pretty good bit in the middle on a miniature moon
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Now to never watch any superhero films ever again
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I've finally watched Teenwolf
I like it
I like it
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
What's it about
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Baseball
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
It's a coming-of-age basketball rom-com made on a budget of about £4!
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Paris, 13th District - the most beautiful people in the entirety of france have sex, sadly, for an hour and a half
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
it was quite good but boy were they sad
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
and beautiful
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I watched Irma Vep last night, which is a french film from the 90s about how shit and provincial french film making is, starring Maggie Cheung as Maggie Cheung, who's been hired to play Irma Vep in th ea remake of this excellent sounding/looking old 7 hour long silent film that I might watch one day
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Vampires
Anyway it was quite good. It reminded me of the existence of luna, who i used to like in the 90s, when this excellent song was on the soundtrack
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTg0k2HFcYQ
and also i like dit because when Maggie Cheung speaks english (I don't think I've ever seen her speak english in anything before) she sounds exactly like Emma Raducanu, which I thought was odd, and then I looked it up, and it turns out Maggie Cheung grew up in Bromley just like Emma Raducanu did.
Which is also odd but at least explains things

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Also she's barely made a film in the last 20 years, which is a shame, because she's brilliant, obviously
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
The other day I saw the new Peter Strickland film, Flux Gourmet, and it was the best thing ever. Tonight I watched his previous one, In Fabric, and that is also the best thing ever. This is now a Peter Strickland fan forum please update your records
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I didn't even know he had a new one out. Hooray
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I liked In Fabric a lot. I've liked all his films a lot
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I didn't like Duke of Burgundy very much but now I'm thinking maybe I should try again

Good work, Sir!
Also... I very very very much remember Amanda Donohoe in that film, oh yes.

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Yes I remember watching that before huge grant was famous and then watching it again after he was famous and realising he was in it.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Also both times I watched it were before Peter capaldi was famous/old

Just watched a wonderful sci-fi film called Vesper at one of my local film festivals and it had SKELEBONES IN SPACE HELMETS

If I were a skellington, I'd wear the appropriate headwear in any given situation.
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I watched Ransom on Talkin' Pichers larst night.
Lovejoy (Ian McShane) is a terrorist.
Bond (Sean Connerog) is head of security for the Nordic country of... Scandinavia (ves, really).
It was a real 6/10 of a movie.

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
dune: the new dune - i couldn't understand what anyone was saying, i didn't really care what was happening, the spaceships looked really nice
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
there were no pugs
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
do we have wormsign?
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I think they're saving most of that for the sequel
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
if they can be bothered to make it
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I watched Monkeybone last night, an insane Brendan Fraser film directed by Henry Selick of Nightmare before Christmas fame in which a cartoonist falls into a coma and then gets possessed by his own comic creation. It's jarringly insane and I had quite a good time but mostly I'm mentioning it because there WAS a pug in it
Or at least I think there was, it was wearing a wrestling mask
It belongs to Whoopi Goldberg, who is playing the role of Death

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Next year, last year
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
Didn't they just film them all at the same time, like Lord of the Rings and The Godfather Trilogy? 2 years between the releases is madness!

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I think I've seen that, or at least I saw the second half of it once. If it's the one I'm thinking of then I think Brendan Fraser's character's soul goes into a dead jogger, which means his role is then played by an entirely different person for the rest of the movie, with different clothes, face, everything (but dead). But I could have got mixed up there. (Also hopefully that's not too much of a spoiler. I can't find the spoiler tag here)vom wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2022 7:49 am I watched Monkeybone last night, an insane Brendan Fraser film directed by Henry Selick of Nightmare before Christmas fame in which a cartoonist falls into a coma and then gets possessed by his own comic creation. Also on Letterboxd I made (I am making) this list:
Microsoft Cinemania '95 (work in progress)
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
It's a dead gymnast that he possesses and it's only a fairly short stretch of the film BUT absolutely the best part because the guy playing the possessed dead gymnast gives a truly incredible performance
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
excellent
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
next week he needs to commission a study into whether nuking a city from orbit really would be the only way to be sure

Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
I just watched Bloody New Year, a wonderfully insane 80s horror movie filmed in South Wales in which a group of "teenagers" flee trouble at a funfair and end up on a haunted island where it's always New Year 1959. it was the very best film ever made and I loved it
Re: Motion Pictures (that anuse me)
The banshees of inisherin - probably not quite as utterly bleak as Calvary, but pretty close
