You could imagine Johnny Morris fighting a kangaroo in an episode of Animal Magic, and then voicing/dubbing over 'the ringside commentator'. :)

I watched another film by the same director today. Brute Force - Burt Lancaster must break out of prison because he’s the most manly man who has ever lived. It was brilliant

Yeah I loved that one too. Jules Dassin is one of my favourite directors from that era, I don't really understand why he's not more recognised as one of the best. Maybe because he was a victim of the Communist blacklist shit. Although after that he made a few amazing films in Europe, married a beautiful Greek actress and lived to be 96 so I think he had the last laugh

I watched both of Buster Keaton's 1923 films this week, Three Ages and Our Hospitality. I didn't expect to like them as much as some of his later ones but Three Ages was surprisingly great and had an excellent dinosuar in it (also a lion)

Our Hospitality not quite as good, it starts reallllllllly slowly but builds up to a pretty magnificent ending

they are both one hundred years old

The Saphead

Buster Keaton's first feature film, and the only one he didn't direct. I mostly watched it for completist reasons but I actually liked it a lot! It's a more traditional romantic comedy, with only a little bit of physical / slapstick stuff, but I found it pretty relentlessly charming.

It is 103 years old.

I'm also going to murder someone by dropping a poisonous cat onto their head. :)

And furthermore, this mans would've made a fine Dr Who:

I think I've only seen "The Immigrant" from that era. I've seen a couple of earlier ones, but they were terrible. I would like to see more of these but I am NOT ALLOWED to buy any more blu-rays even though that set sounds lovely
