this flim is 100 flams old
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
agreed
I watched one based on part of the magic flute as well which was pretty good, I liked Cinderella more though (also the other one was considerably less than a hundred years old, sickening)

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
1922 Cinderella lookes utterly delightful!
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I should probably watch it
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
Instead I'm watching a film that's only 74 years old
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
(the naked city)
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
Good so far (I'm only half way through)
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I absolutely loved The Naked City
I'm watching Leprechaun 5: Leprechaun in the Hood
It's 22 years old

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
Yes, it was great (I've finished it now)
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
rabid - early cronenberg film that i'd not seen for some reason. essentially the same as shivers, but also with soem lifeforce in there (in that the transmission vector for the zombi eplague is an often uneccessarily nude woman)
anyway it was good i liked it. lovely bleak 70s canada, sombre music (including one bit that sounded like some final fantasy 7 music) and a weirdly blank and empty central performance from the main bloke it it, which was probably just bad acting, but weirdly felt like the sort of realistic detached sort of nothingness that you'd probably actually display while driving round a canda on fire and covered in blood

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
he does do some shouting, crying at the end but that wasn't as good
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
for the absolute emotionless of all the rest though it reminded of th ewoman in assualt on precinct 13, who gives a similarly phenomenally flat performance while everyone else is overacting wildly
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
also one of the women in this has absolutely the most amazing pair of glasses i've ever seen.
like i'm not even sure what's going on with the frame of them at all
double also: one of my friends used to have a really faded videotape of this on a shelf just outside his bedroom in some weird connecting corridor bit of their strange labyrinthine house, so the cover image makes me feel all nostalgic for being 16 again, which is always a slightly terrible occurrence when that happens

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I didn't like Rabid very much which surprised me because I absolutely loved Shivers
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
yeah, shivers is definitely better. i've never dared watch that again since the 90s because it was so horrifying
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
Shivers scarred me. I am never watching that again!
Re: this flim is 100 flams old

This film is a 124 years old: La Lune à un mètre (1898)
https://accumulationofthings.com/100/20 ... etre-1898/
I don't know why George Melies loved the moon so much, but I am glad he did.

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I'd never heard of this before but it was wonderful and now i want to watch all the other man's films
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
A champion article, Davuss, although I had to stop watching the film on YT, as stop motion dead insects make me feel a little bit ikky.
I wonder if all the chap's other films utilise dead insects. I heop not.

Re: this flim is 100 flams old
supposedly quite a few of them do
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I'd watch a stop motion dead insect version of 2001 - A Space Odyssey, though.
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
A lovely and instructive article, that, davuss, although I don't think you mean "1992", do you?
"who took over directing duties from Pat Sullivan/Otto Messmer in 1992"
Also: Felix The Cat cartrons = generally a bit meh, imo.

Re: this flim is 100 flams old

Sherlock Jr - wonderful buster keaton amazingness from the forbidden year of 1924
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
i think the two other buster keaton films in this set are from 1926, a year even more forbidden and futuristic
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
I don't remember the years 1924 and 1926 ever existing.
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
homfrus is a 1925 truther
Re: this flim is 100 flams old
