The best thing about the second Blade Runner is that when it was released there was a day when the sky over the UK went all orange due to dust from Spain or something, like the irradiated LA in that trailer.

I don't think I like Denis Villeneuve's movies either, and I genuinely can't be fucked about Dune because it looks so drab. Apparently a sequel is confirmed now, because everyone has decided that they like miserable looking boring blockbusters with one single emotion throughout and actors who may as well be window dummies and NO JOKES. Apart from a few that were featured in one Dune trailer, which caused some temporary outrage that it would be "a Marvel-style quipfest", as I believe one tweet had it.

Surely I can't be alone in wanting colourful, emotionally complex films again? It's genuinely unsettling how simplistic Hollywood cinema is now. People complained about that in the 80s or whenever but there's no way you'd get a movie as odd as An American Werewolf In London being released by a major studio now, let alone a modern day equivalent of 80s mainstream movies like Raiders Of The Lost Ark or The Goonies with all the odd touches, unexpected plot turns and characterful moments in those.

I watched 30 minutes of the George & Mildred film, then I reassessed my life, and turned it off.

Tinker off of Lovejoy was in it, playing the role of a 'young' greaser-style troublemaker.

I went to DGS but I didn't go to Wentworth, although it was the nearest primary school. It didn't have a good reputation. DGS made very little of the Jagger connection until they built the performing arts centre, which (to his credit) he put quite a bit of money towards.

8/10, I thought it was charming. The worst part (not actually bad, per se, but merely 'ok') was the Toby Jones stuff, but that's just me, I guess. :)

Some might say it was rather 'slight', but I'd call it uncluttered. :)

I think the womans in the recent Verisure home security advert, when explaining as to why they've had it installed, says: "It gets really dark, these days.", as opposed to something like: "It gets really dark at this time of year.", which makes more sense, and sounds less ominous?

But I might've misheard. :)

They probably originally had "at this time of year" in the script, but needed something about half a second shorter because it's an advert. So they rewrote it (badly) to make it quicker, without realising how scary they'd made it. Basic writing mistakes like that in the media seem to frequently happen at this time of - er, these days.

Made in 1976 by the peeps who dun did Roobarb Und Henry's Cat.

I have absolutely no recollection of Noah And Nelly, which surprises me.

I don't think Noah & Nelly In The Skylark was shown for long in the 70s - I get the impression it disappeared shortly after its original broadcast, while Roobarb / Henry's Cat repeats carried on for ages. I only learnt it existed in the late 90s or early 2000s when some random cable channel repeated a bit of it, and then TV Cream listed it shortly afterwards (or maybe before? Can't remember at this point).

Fans of Harlow and old 1970's films should sign up RIGHT NOW to Talking Pictures TV Encore Service and watch this:
Dial-a-Bus in Harlow - Glimpses

Video Description:

A charming film made in 1974 filmed all around Harlow with the trail of the 'new dial a bus' scheme. Great shots of 1970s England.
