New Consolevania, except it isn't.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG8JGxqyUAA

It's like the orig, and has the same name, and this new show was made with the blessing of the original creators.

Which all confused me a tad.

Rab and Ryan made a statement (and indeed an episode) relinquishing their rights to the name and format of Consolevania about a year ago, either to get more people doing things, or because they were thinking of stopping making the show themselves, or both (although they're still making new episodes anyway). There hasn't been a huge reaction, largely I suspect due to the show's small reach nowadays. This guy has now made three episodes, which shows a certain amount of tenacity, but he doesn't have their lightness of touch, while he's still very much set in the early 2000s in terms of humour - which would bother me less if the jokes were funnier.

This episode (by a different guy, who I think is mates with Ryan, and who Mark and I know a little) is much closer spiritually to the real thing, while still being its own thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1kTnfcThLo

Ta for the info, Bruce! I think it's an interesting move on their part, and I hope they get something worthwhile back for doing this.

Hey, I ought to make a Teletext-y Consolevania episode! :D I'd need to work on my Scottish accent (for there is only one accent!), though! :D

re: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1kTnfcThLo

I really enjoyed that. The great outdoors + gaming anecdotes + plus music = very much my jam.

I never knew Sega made a 3D sequel to their Choplifter arcade machine game:

Air Rescue (1992)

I just love that slightly shonky sprite scaling, and the fact these helicopter rescue missions appear to take place within a 100 metres! :)

Yes absolutely
I played one the other day (in real life) that had a steering wheel and a shit gun, neither of which worked very well, and together were just abysmal

Needless to say I loved it

The last final hidden special quest is utter shit, obviously (a man turns up and asks for a fight, and by now you're so overpowered you kill him in three hits, even though he's the ultimate hero, or something, who knows)

i finally bothered doing the werewolves quests and they were rubbish. you become leader of the werewolves in about four minutes, not one of your werewolf followers ever turns into a werewolf at any point after the first reveally bit, even when they're your companion and almost/actually dying, and actually being a werewolf is so shit i don't know why they bothered really

when they added the vampire dlc, they even gave the werewolves a whole separate perk/levels system. to earn each perk, you have to eat ever increasing numbers of people while a werewolf (about 150 people to earn them all) and each time you eat a person, it adds another minute to your total transformation time (you can't change back manually), so if you eat say 5 bandits in a room, you have then basically have to spend five minutes just standing there, waiting to not be a werewolf again, because while you're a werewolf you can't loot people, search chests, pick anything up, pick locks, use keys, fast travel, look at the map or your inventory at all, talk to people, or any of the other million things you usually need to do to actually progress forward in whatever dungeon you accidentally triggered being a werewolf in

i did spend 8 whole pounds getting the anniversary edition, which added loads of rubbish quests all delivered by that bloody courier who would never leave you alone ever wherever you were. just endlessly running around skyrim giving me letters to start new quests because all the anniversary edition stuff was just fan made rubbish with no voice acting at all so it always had to use letters for everything. letters, and notebooks and endless bloody journals, everywhere, forever
