One of the local cats just jumped through my kitchen window and came and danced at me until I encouraged him out. This is the second time now. He spends a lot of time in the courtyard here, and I wonder whether he actually has an owner; following my first encounter with him, when he was sitting on the back fence singing and singing sorrowfully, he seems to have arrived at some sort of arrangement with my neighbours at the far end of the block. He is young-ish, and still sporting a fine pair of baals.

The downside of all this is that I really want to leave my kitchen window wide open as much as possible (since it is the only non-street-facing window and I do not get loads of noise or cigarette smoke in through it), but if this is going to keep happening then I may have to reconsider. Also I now need to clean the kitchen counter because of cat feet.
