50000 cases a day, two days before getting rid of all restrictions completely. Yeah I don't really want to leave the house right now at all.

I know what you mean - my anxiety levels are following a similar trajectory to the reported number of cases. :(

It's good to know you've had your second shot, Dave. When you hear of those who've had two shots and have still been pretty ill, it makes you wonder how bad you'd be if you'd only had one shot! :o Ugh!

My sister is immensely wrathful because the headteacher at her school has succumbed to Covid and she got stuck talking to him for too long on Wednesday (the last day of term) with the result that she must now isolate and can't go with baby to visit parents next week as was planned. She is particularly displeased because this plan had led her to not buy any food for the week. But since my dad has not been vaccinated at all (due to crippling fear of injection), there's not much to be done.

Does the number of falling cases mean that things are improving (fingers crossed), or does it mean that peeps are just removing that NHS app from their phone/not getting tested/pinged?

I am jib a second time. This one necessitated a 5+ mile walk to the Oxford Utd stadium, and also a 5+ mile walk back. So I am pretty knacked already.

Ves, now I might go to the pub a few times before it is too cold and dark to go outside.
The walk was due to mask madness and also not wanting to be in a bus or taxi with random persons. There would only have been about 30-40 minutes of walking each way if I'd been able to get the bus, rather than the 90 minutes each way that it ended up taking. I begin to wonder if I will ever get bus again.

That reminds me - the last taxi ride I got, the sodding driver was regaling me with how ill he was when he got Covid, and I ended up just nodding whilst masked up, and with my head leaning out of the backseat window like a breeze-obsessed cocker spaniel*!

Taxis are an exotic mystery to me. I think I've only ever booked two. Ironically, the last time was at a friend's housewarming party in Littlemore, where the Oxford Utd stadium is; I'm fairly sure I went past the house today, though my friend no longer lives there. I don't know about her coke-snorting, creepy former housemate, but I'm understandably reluctant to investigate further.

The last time I got a bus was June 2020, just before they made masks compulsory on them. I only really used to get buses to and from the big supermarket out of town once a week to go shopping, but I quite enjoyed it because the route goes through a little bit of countryside. I haven't been on a train since early February 2020.

To my great shock and amazement, my dad has managed to have the first vaccination, although it sounds like it was rather a torment for him. This is immensely pleasing news, since it means we now have to worry a lot less about inadvertently killing him.
