Invincible

Post by Chortle Hound »

Do we have a TV thread?

I've watched the first series of an animated superhero show called Invincible on Amazon video. Does streaming count as TV?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invincible_(TV_series)

It is like a cartoon version of The Boys except more playful and less depressing.

It is pleasingly violent and gory but does it all in a cheery sort of way.

I really loik it.

Only bad thing I have to say is that the main hero's powers seem inconsistent at times. One minute he's brushing off the combined firepower of a small army, then later he gets his arse kicked by a normal human with cybernetic implants.

I roll 8 eggs out of tent.

If this is now the TV thread, and to prevent myself having to create a new one...

...

... I've just learned there was a new season of 12oz Mouse last year!?

What?

I think I heard there was going to be years ago, then there wasn't, but I suppose now there is. How odd

It better be just 12 episodes of 12 oz mouse being interviewed by the shark

I ploughed through all of Farscape on Prime having never seen it much originally. Pretty good, the wrap-up miniseries is rushed and 'off' in various ways but it's nice they got to finish it. Oh, look, it's Servalan Mark 2

The BBC must have cut it to ribbons for the 6pm BBC2 Star Trek slot

I remembered to, then forgot, then remembered to, then again forgot to mention this on 'ere.

My verdict - snazzier, but not as good as the first two series. Still very much worth watching though.

Ah, really? It didn't feel particularly chopped up to me when viewing it in that 6pm slot, so I guess the Beeb's editors did a very good job on it.

My dad's recently been diligently working his way through the farscape dvds he got in a charity shop for 10p a disc a few years ago. He has series 1, the first two thirds of series two, the middle of series three, none of series four.

I don't know if he's just going to ignore the great big gap in his collection and plow onwards forever, or if he's going to spend the first few months of being allowed out of the house searching every charity shop in essex for the remaining episodes

I *think* that is as much as I've ever seen, funnily enough. :D

I watched The Piglet Files tonight. It's merely ok-ish, but a spy sitcom on primetime ITV nowadays? Never in a million years.

Bits I assume the BBC cut out of Farscape for 6pm

- The aforementioned "Crichton gets open-top brain surgery" one
- The "Crichton gets his eyeballs pulled out on stalks to insert a mind control chip" one. Nice prosthetic effects, I guess, but blurgh
- The "Crichton has an alarming oedipal hallucination of his dead mother" one (episode also features Rygel in a gimp suit)
- The "everyone in the crew is whizzing off their tits due to space-drugs/mind-control/funny-coloured lights" ones (this is about half the remaining episodes)

Apparently the makeup was making Virginia Hey really ill towards the end of her run, which is presumably why she doesn't have much to do by that poiut apart from getting shunted into her own subplots and saying "By the Goddess!" a lot
