It is free, but to upload more than two hours of audio you need a "pro" subscription, and I have to save money. And I had way more than two hours on there.

Also the experience of using Soundcloud isn't all that. Every day there would be a billion bots who would mail me using the site's DMs saying things like "HEY YO how you doing man? Listen I just heard your track Bum Willy Fuck Chip Shop and it would be perfect for our automated bullshit scam oh no what a giveaway"

Sometimes they'd be called normal names, and other times they would be called "User4o9563489ye89y6e" or something. Though multiples of the latter tended to just like random tracks, and then after a few days their likes and also accounts would be purged once Soundcloud's systems realised they were fake

yeah soundcloud is a bit of a spam nightmare and they don't really seem interested in fixing it.

I've ended up with several different free accounts linked to different email addresses just for when I want to dump stuff online. but I use them infrequently enough that I've forgotten all the passwords

I am legally releasing a cover version! With all the rights covered, and through streaming services and Youtube and all that.

Here are my own words on my Ko-fi page:

You may recall that I didn't get on that well with releasing my music through Spotify, Amazon, etc. Well, as I wanted to put out a cover version legally, I'm trying out a different digital music service to the one I used last time, so I can do sort of the same thing (only with covers). Here's my second attempt at this whole farrago:

It's not available yet, but it'll gradually appear all over the place during the next few days. Hopefully this time round it'll work out a bit better, and I can put out cover versions on some kind of semi-regular basis this way. All my other music will still be released via Bandcamp.

Also this version of this very famous song is quite a bit different to what you may be expecting. Or maybe it is what you're expecting...?

(It is an instrumental, and very noisy. The latter is almost certainly what you were expecting)

In any case, I think this may be the last time I bother with a proper Youtube channel, because I can't keep up with Google's nonsense anymore. No, no, it's okay, I do get it. I had to cancel one Patreon sub I had because it was costing too much. To be honest I wonder if Patreon is really a real answer to funding art / entertainment.

Also my account has just been placed under review by the "Trust & Safety" dept of Patreon, because they have found "suspicious activity" on it. This means I can't get the 7 quid I've earned so far (actually 6, after credit card bastards have recieved their own charges). I don't know what it means, and I'm wondering if the fact that I've made a new account that isn't under my deadname, but does use my deadname for Paypal etc., has set off something.

That's weird (although I think there's extra checks and nonsense the first time you ever try getting money out of them, so it might just be that).

Also paypal are arseholes so yeah its probably them
