One Candy Talking (i.e. Making Things On The Internet)

Post by CandyDarling »

Hello again! Here are a few new things.

JET.

A weirdo remix of that song by Professor Paul Horatio McCartney And His Fabtabulous Wingtraptions. Quite pleased with how this turned out.

Public Image (cover of PiL song)

Cover version of the famed post-Sex Pistols song by John Lydon's then-new band, Public Image Limited, recorded in the halycon days before he started pretending that he actually always liked the Queen, honest...

wobble 50

Quick thing I threw together on a whim, using a clip from a mildly infamous early 60s B-movie ("Wild Guitar").

I do like these three things.

Rather dig the PIL cover, Jet is pleasingly barking and a tad speeded up Happy Hardcore-y-esque, and Wobble 50 reminds me a bit of a playful/concussed David Lynch! :D So Hurrah to all!

Back in 2017, he claimed that he hates the Royal Family but likes The Queen as a person, which is pure revisionism ("...our figurehead is not what she seems...") and is the kind of weasely statement he would have laughed at in 1977. In the same interview he thought Brexit was a great thing, and more recently has attacked "woke culture" and "snowflakes". Oh, and he's also had a go at Meghan & Harry, which is weird because I would have thought that given the earlier statement, he'd be pleased at The Firm's inner machinations being exposed. He's basically yet another in a long line of old men who betrayed their ideals once they became comfortable.

Into The Algorithm

Music video / short film, with all the music done by me and all the footage taken from pexels.com. A sort of mood piece about Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, all that.

You make an excellent point Chriddus - also, yo' music sounds like an early Human League instrumental (which is great), and I also forgot to mention that I tweeted your Wobble 50 video, cos I don't think you're on there anymo', are youse?

No, I'm not on Twitter anymore. I'm pleased about that Human League comparison, as I really like this quite obscure early record of theirs:

The Dignity Of Labour (first track)

And thank you for tweeting "wobble 50"!

Two things:

Sad Aphex Twin (possibly NSFW, depending where you work)
Repurposing / recycling of some old things I posted on Tumblr, back when that was actually a site that people used

Tiny Box Warning
Fake advert / PIF, only done in a modern style with 21st Century stock footage. Footage was from the aforementioned pexels.com.

I used that Evnene software or whatever it's called to make this (the visuals at least)

What The Meat Brought Us

I'll be using it again, I think - it's pretty decent, but on the downside it has loads of funny UI quirks that make picking it up harder than it needs to be.

Also here is a punk EP thing on Bandcamp (LOUD)

Thanks to you both!

A new six-minute Bandcamp track is now out for a quid:

Studio Asp pts. 1 + 2
here's the blurb I wrote:Studio asps burn like madness and then succumb to rotting. The ending of them always happens before complete juice is extracted!

What goes wrong? Who's to blame here? A tisket? A tasket? A fine yellow basket?

No: "Policies," said a man falling backwards out of a window.

Thank you both. I think I may have used the word "Cheesburgeritis" in something before, but I originally got it from a baffling dream I had when I was seven. In the dream I found a book which was called "Cheesburgeritis", and it had Daffy Duck on the cover looking through a magnifying glass at some spots (he was a doctor). The magnifying glass revealed the spots to be tiny cheeseburgers.

For the record, I recall the title of the book being typeset in Cooper Black Bold. Off-hue scarlet text against beige. Great days, Eddie.

I just dreamt that I couldn't remember Chris Ware's name, and then I woke up and I really couldn't remember Chris Ware's name, so I had to go and look at the Chris Ware books on my bookcase to find out Chris Ware's name, but none of those had Chris Ware's name on it at all anywhere I could find, and it was as if Chris Ware's name had been erased from history
