Enve - Open Source 2D Animation Software

Post by blombluss »

It runs on Linux and Windows.

A bit more info: https://itsfoss.com/enve-2d-animation/

The software itself: https://maurycyliebner.github.io

It might even wean me off my beloved Flash! :D

Ta, beautiful people! :D

I'm sticking with the teletext-y stylee for nown. I like the aesthetic, and it's relatively quick and easy to bash stuff out, which is good for me, as I'm a slow worker, otherwise! :)

I tried out Enve. Or at least, I tried to try it out. There was no way to close the tutorial window, as it didn't have the universally understood feature of an "X" or something in the corner to close it.

Oh, okay, you have to click "New" to get rid of it and make a new project. That wasn't terribly clear.

that sort of thing infuriates me more than it should on so much software. even worse are things that go full screen and then you can't press escape to get out of full screen you have to press some totally different unspecified button

I learnt a new thing to-day.

Those dots that form GB & NI are called Sixels (six dots in various alignments inside a single character block).

That Hockney attempt is more suited to being something like a deliberately daft Adult Swim logo, or a knowingly crap design for a weird record label or whatever. It doesn't work at all when you're interpreting something as important as the Underground logo. Also have to agree with the people saying that the work could have gone to a graphic designer who needed the money...
