Eurovision
Eurovision
Next weekend.
I will, as always, wish to see/hear nothing of the acts that'll appear on the night, but that said... I'm quite looking forward to watching it. As long as it's a fairly 'normal' song contest, and not that pointless drivel they put on last year (make your own jokes here!)

Re: Eurovision
Just a thought - I think Vom should write and perform all the entries.

You cannot pierce my shield of unifying song with your bitter bullets of derision!
Re: Eurovision
i hope you're all excited homfrus now theres only a few hours to go
Re: Eurovision
First one I've watched in quite a few years. It was mostly enjoyable but the winner was disappointing, very mediocre
Re: Eurovision
An even shitter version of the darkness, somehow

Cthulu bum you!
Re: Eurovision
I enjoyed the whole shebang, as usual. Other than getting rather drunk, my observations were/are:
I didn't mind Italy's winning song. It sounded a bit like a Poundland Rage Against The Machine to me.
My faves were Iceland's Hot Chip b-side, Lithuania's disco Depeche/Goldfrapp mash up, Ukraine's Farm Foods Fever Ray/The Knife track, and Finland's Finnikin Park unreleased demo song.
I'm not sure why the UK sent Ricky Grover over to represent us, and instead of keeping his outdoor coat on, he needed to wear a short silver spangly dress like 50% of the contestants did!

I liked Iceland, Russia, Malta... probably some others, I'm forgetting
The Italy song wasn't terrible but took itself too seriously and the whole "rock & roll will triumph" angle is grim
Also today I was alerted to this song which was one of the shortlisted acts for Estonia a few years ago, but for some reason they picked another act to represent them even though this one is literally perfect

Oh, I agree with that.
Talking of things that weren't taken too seriously, I rather liked the schtick and attire of the Icelandic score-giving person. He looked/behaved like someone who was fishing in the canal, and then just been told to deliver the Icelandic jury's scores to camera!
Re: Eurovision
Tesco value Slipknot!
That is dementedly great!
Only thing is... is the chap in the red wearing a mask (during the performance) or is that sort of brownface? I'm not sure.

Re: Eurovision
I assumed it was a mask but now I'm not sure

Oh, I'd forgotten all about the 1970s-style special effects that were used for Greece's 'invisible men' dancers. Great stuff!
