hot
Re: hot
After those days when it was really hot and also I had COVID at the same time, normal summer heat doesn't really feel very hot any more
Re: hot
what if you open the doors and windows from about 4am til about 8am, then close absolutely everything until the next night
Re: hot
that happened here once. It poked its head through the door and had a bit of a sniff. I used my shoe to get it to turn around and usher it back outside
where i left some water

Re: hot
I have basically become nocturnal now, when work meetings permit
I am keeping all curtains shut all the time, and then opening up door and all windows when the outside temperature drops below the inside temperature, and keeping them all wide open as long as possible. The newly installed heating system comes with a thermometer, which is proving very useful in this endeavour, although I'm not sure I like the creepy radiant heating panels hanging off the ceiling. I certainly don't appreciate the airing cupboard switch that has buggered up the off-peak water heating.

If I had a hedgehog, I'd name it Mario.
Re: hot
Last night I couldn't get to sleep until about 4 or 5 (due to hot, restless, sweat, stupid brain, etc). Then this morning, I got woken up at about 8 by men using angle grinders and hammers and drills 2 metres outside my window (which went on for about four hours). I have been utterly absurdly headachingly tired ever since, yet for some reason, still cannot get to sleep.
Re: hot
Also it doesn't help that there's like some sort of white noise I can always here out the window at night from about midnight till about 2 or 3 (air conditioning? a generator of some sort on nearby roadworks? who knows) which my brain can't ever seem to even be bothered to try and work out how to ignore.

Re: hot
all of the radios are like that. So if you work in a place that plays a loud radio and it's the same fucking songs every day, sometimes every hour or two throughout the day, it is breakdown madness inducing
Re: hot
when i briefly worked at stansted airport a few years ago, in an otherwise quiet office with radio, i had to walk out when the fucking spluice griols came on. This actually surprised people, as if it's actually acceptable for that shit to enter your ear holes

Re: hot
I remember it was the year "Frontier Psychiatrist" was popular so I'll forever know that tune by heart
Re: hot
I had a summer job that played some kind of 80s station once and it was indeed mostly hell but when they would occasionally play a good song it really stood out and that is why Lardpony used to cover "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" by A Flock of Seagulls
Re: hot
i've had Wake Up Boo stuck in my head for a few days now. I blame you, of course
Re: hot
I wouldn't have it any other way
Re: hot
god ves.
But why? There are thousands of commercial, catchy, popular, and unthreatening songs from the 1970s to the 2010s. Work your way through 'em, radio stations!

Could the heat have dried up your earwax?

It'll be eat or be eaten, so I'm off to wander the highways and byways looking for... food...
