i played that last year with my neices (and then twligight princess afterwards). its deifnitely better than twilight princess but also was deifnitely worse than i remembered. but the whole time stones desert/sea section's brilliant so that's okay, and it is fun seeing what they used/re-used and what they abndoned entirely in making breath of the wild so good

i just don't know why they made the flying between islands so tedious. like, absurdly tedious for no apparent reason (it doesn't even seem to be to hide load times because you still have to load when you go down to the surface anyway)

also i haven't played the switch swyward sword so i don't know what they changed, but there are one hell of a lot of pointlessly tedious things they hopefully tidied up (such as how bloody long it takes to pick up beetles, monster parts, money, etc)

I liked the way the flying and islands was just How To Train Your Dragon (presumably coincidence? they seem to have been in development at the same time) but yeah they didn't really find a way to make it fun.

I never really struggled for bugs / treasures / money so presumably there were some improvements made. perhaps I will look up what they changed! beats work!

for some reason every time you picked up anything it gave you the description of it again, but it seems they did fix that

"Alongside this, all cutscenes and dialogue can now also be skipped and, very important this one, items are only given a description the very first time you pick them up. It may seem like a small tweak that last one but it's quite remarkable just how much better it feels to play Zelda without being stopped with descriptions every single time you pick up an item."

ah yes, that's a big improvement

they definitely could have made Fi less chatty though, the bit I rolled my eyes hardest at was when I got the heatproof earrings and got the item description "you got the heatproof earrings! you can go to places that were previously too hot!" and then she popped out to tell me that "you can go places that were previously too hot! there is a 90% chance that this means the volcano you're stood next to!" or whatever.

I seem to have spent the entire day playing Mario Tennis (all normal cups won with all characters) and Goldeneye (Agent and Secret Agent done and dusted). Oops.

I've been playing Valkyria Revolution, an incredibly crappy action rpg spinoff of the Valkyria Chronicles games (which were turn based strategy games based during dome gibberish version of World War Two). Anyway, it might well be the worst game I've ever played. I'm about six hours in, and there's been about twenty minutes of game and the rest has either been cutscenes or loading screens, and the game bits were terrible, and the cutscenes might be the worst cutscenes of all time, and also the entire story seems to be that the war criminals who started their gibberish version of World War One were actually heroes all along, like if you made a film where the true hereoes of the second world war were lord haw haw, oswald mosley, diana mitford and that nazi king we had that time (and also they were all sexy teenagers for some reason)

Absolute fucking piss

I still haven't played Breath of the Wild, because I still haven't got past Wind Waker in my big playthrough, or played any of the Zelda games that come after it. My sister said she liked it but 'it's not really a Zelda game so I hope they're not all going to be like that now'. She accidentally finished it very early by climbing through Ganon's window without knowing he was there and then killing him, which still amuses me.

Yeah it's best to think of it as "not a Zelda game". When I stopped expecting nice dungeons and a linear path, it became more bearable.

Just pick a direction and go look at stuff.

I embrace that
If you made a stupid choice, the game becomes about the consequences of that choice. There's no "winning", just different endings

"All you need is your own TV (any model that receives BBC2)"

Interestin'! Well, to me, anyhoo. :)

My grandparents had a telly with an ITV 2 button onnit, with that predating the actual 'proper' ITV2 freeview channel by 30 or so years? Actually... maybe they were time-travellers from the future? :D
