Many thanks unto ye all.
Yesterday started rather shockingly when I discovered that the partner of a colleague, who would actually have been at my birthday drinks on Wednesday had he not been called away (my colleague could not make it either due to illness), had a brain haemorrhage that night and died on Friday. I didn't know him super-well, but he was a nice guy and it's terrible. He was only in his 40s as well.
Fortunately things improved in the afternoon when my sister and various friends arrived and we were convivial. My niece was extremely entertaining, and we watched Transformers and MASK, the latter of which was completely unfamiliar to most of the audience but they were soon hooting and jeering at it as expected. My sister made excellent chocolate cake and brownies.
My presents this year are towels and books and chocolate and DVDs and a game and this poster.
