Pogo Patterson (S7) is like Gonch, but without the charm or likeability.
Jimmy McLaren is the sharpest dressed bully ever in GH and probably became a disgraced Tory MP.

This looks fascinatingly dreadful:

Behind the Bike Sheds
https://www.curiousbritishtelly.co.uk/2 ... sheds.html

And it also has a connection to Grange Hill! :D

Zammo's best mate in his early school years was Jonah, but when the actor playing Jonah found out his character was going to be killed off in the following series, he left the show and his character was written out. The actor then turned up in Behind the Bike Sheds playing a schoolboy character not a million miles away from Jonah (or so it appears).

Right, I'll shut up now! :D

It is fairly bad, but the worst part is those overly brightly lit sets, which give me the FEAR! :o

Watching Mrs McCluskey cane a pupil on the hand rather than expel her, was shocking.

One of the stroylines at the moment is abaht making school unifroms compulsory (once again). I liked our unifrom, but it couldn't have been easy for those who had to wear burgundy or bottle green blazers. Never mind charitable causes overseas, it was pupils who had to wear blazers in those colours who needed the real help and support... :D

Half of one episode of Strange Hill was devoted entirely to an amateurishly filmed football trial match. I presume whoever penned that episode ran out of time writing it, and just wrote: FOOTBALL TRIAL MATCH 10 MINUTES RUNNING TIME, and handed that in to the show's production team.

I've now watched/completed the first 12 series (222 episodes or so) of Grange Hill. It's a fine achievement, imo! :D

CandyDarling wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 5:33 am I think I may have mentioned this before, but I have very fond memories of a Grange Hill storyline from around 1991 / 92 (right at the tail end of it being a show people would bother watching).

It was all about some of the students trying to save some foxes from having their little home destroyed by some bastard developer. The pupils of Grange Hill succeed over the bastard, and then the storyline is concluded with them looking from afar at this adorable little lot of baby foxes with their mother... the latter of which had clearly been filmed in 1972, on scratchy 16mm. And the students were clearly from present times (i.e. 1991 or whenever this was), on pin-sharp DigiBeta, with early 1990s hair.

The following morning at my school, everyone was laughing about it. It was effectively the "This room is surrounded by film" bit from Monty Python, but it had been attempted as if nobody would notice, when even in the early 70s people noticed it

I watched this particular episode yesterday, and your post immediately sprung to mind! :D

Also, I've just watched S15 (yay!), but nearly lost my shit when I couldn't locate S16 on YouTube. After phoning up the Police, they suggested I tried Daily Motion, and S16 is on there, albeit in manky quality, but it's good enough to put an end to my killing spree.

FOR NOWN!!!

I feel that.

Just polished off S17 and S18 of GH. S18 had an unseen headmaster, which seemed an odd creative choice.

Heh! Also, it's a very cunning French strategy as you require only half the material to pad out to movie length. :)

I've seen Play Time (as I think you're meant to write it out) and it was amusing, but weirdly gentle as a comedy. There were a lot of moments where it seemed everyone involved was really trying not to let things go too crazy or mad, which was a disappointment. Most of the jokes are things like "someone's shoes are making a weird squeaking sound" or "this tag on a suitcase is spinning around very fast like a propeller". Not much laughs, but immaculate "vibes"

yeah it's really impressive and ambitious but I'm not sure it's really all that funny. I laughed more at Monsieur Hulot and Mon Oncle is maybe the best mix of mad ambitious design stuff and actual comedy? I have a couple of others in a box set to check out eventually

I rewatched Logan's Run last night, and it's amazing how Star Wars made it look horribly out of date just a year later. They almost look like they were filmed a decade apart.

But yes, I was thinking about this recently with clash of the titans, which is newer but feels much older than Star Wars. Star Wars is the start of modern fantasy film making I suppose and clash of the titans the end of old film fantasy film making

But Stra Wars doesn't feature Harry Hamlin and his beauteous hair!

Also, agreed.

And Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 81, which again feels much more modern than Clash of the Titans from the same year.
