Egg

Post by dng »

I watched Angel's Egg today, a 1980s straight to video anime by the man who directed ghost in the shell, with art by the man who did all the old (good) final fantasy character designs, illustrations, box arts etc, which was all about a girl holding an egg, with dialogue saying things like "you must protect the egg" and "how long have you been holding the egg" and "i love egg"

Needless to say it was the best film ever

Angel's Egg (Japanese: 天使のたまご, Hepburn: Tenshi no Tamago) is a Japanese animated experimental post-apocalyptic science fantasy OVA film

Anyway it was wonderful, except that for some reason at the cinema they had a ten minute introductory video by someone or other telling you everything about the film that you hadnt watched yet because it hadnt started yet and so you didnt want to be told anything about it at sll you just wanted to watch it

Cool. The only other place showing it now I think is the Sir Prince Charles Cinema in London

I also saw Angel's Egg at the cinema recently, but it was at the Sir Prince Charles in Leicester Square. They didn't include that intro video and went straight into the film, which was a wise choice on their part. Of course we had to all sit through fifteen minutes of adverts anyway

Also on the weekend I went to the ICA and saw this compilation of VHS fetish stuff that made me feel astoundingly depressed. Everyone else thought it was hilarious, and to be fair it was for me at the start, as two porn actors were having to try and do improv with predictable results. But after that I just started to feel sad at what I was seeing, and then there was a bit with a female bodybuilder having to show her veins while flexing, and that made me feel even sadder over her. I mean she might be dead by now, it was from the 80s and bodybuilders don't always have the longest lifespan due to bodybuilding

Anyway I walked out halfway through feeling miserable and once again not understanding the world, why I'd even bothered going, and so on. Everyone else had a grand old time. I don't understand people
