Well there's your problem.

Put out the fire and it'll be less hot.

Post by **dng** » Thu Jul 30, 2026 7:17 pm

Not if they put it out with a nuclear explosion first

Post by **Pual** » Thu Jul 30, 2026 9:29 pm

Post by **blombluss** » Fri Jul 31, 2026 1:57 pm

Is there anything to be said in favour of a nuclear winter?

Post by **Pual** » Fri Jul 31, 2026 4:57 pm

Well it’s one solution to global warming I suppose.

A presenter on the shopping channel (QVC) today said that we've been blessed with this weather.

Er... yeah, apart from the increased death rate, the drought, the potential food shortages, the wildfires, and the power outages... yeah...

Sheesh...

Post by **dng** » Wed Aug 05, 2026 9:12 pm

The shopping channel is how they recruit you into becoming a climate change denial extremist

Today's weather with Sven Goran Eriksson:

The first half - good
The second half - not so good

I've got a cold wet-ish towel around my neck.

It's helping a bit, but I don't like the sensation.

Stupid towel.

Post by **blombluss** » Tue Aug 11, 2026 7:52 pm

I dunno about down South, but mid-August last year in ma neck of the woods felt like mid-September, and mid-September felt like mid October, and so on...

Curioux.

Post by **dng** » Tue Aug 11, 2026 8:21 pm

This year mid august feels like the exact centre of the sun

Post by **vom** » Tue Aug 11, 2026 9:46 pm

I'm at the seaside and it's quite nice being able to just launch myself into the sea every time I get too hot

Post by **Bruce Sato** » Tue Aug 11, 2026 11:51 pm

I don't think I'd ever come back if I were able to do that. Probably because I can't swim.

I haven't taken any time off work so far this year, and I don't think I will until it starts to cool down and I can actually either (a) do useful things or (b) not do anything and enjoy it. Right now the coolest place to go, temperature-wise anyway, is the office (holding around 23-24 C even in hell weather).

I think the solar eclipse should be cancelled so as to punish the sun.

Post by **dng** » Wed Aug 12, 2026 12:10 pm

Instead of cancelling it maybe they could extend it for several months

Post by **dng** » Wed Aug 12, 2026 5:24 pm

I just looked at the sun

Post by **dng** » Wed Aug 12, 2026 5:24 pm

10/10 would do again

Post by **blombluss** » Wed Aug 12, 2026 11:35 pm

The next solar eclipse is 2081, so I'll wait for that.
