I wish someone would do a Super Cassette Vision Mini, for a reasonable price - I'd prolly buy that!

Re: Games
The Super Cassette Vision was very much the Video 2000 to Nintendo and Sega's VHS & Beta. (If we're just talking about the Japanese / US markets, of course...)

Techmoan produced a rather good vid 'bout Video 2000 - "The format that came third in a two-horse race"

I think I posted about Video 2000 once before, on the old forum. Or at least just linked to the demo tape above. Anyway, Techmoan's vid is worth a look.
Re: Games
I think you did. I just seem to have no memory of anything any more for some reason (the reason is old, the end of all things)CandyDarling wrote: Tue Aug 17, 2021 6:57 pm I think I posted about Video 2000 once before, on the old forum. My son loves Zelda Botw. Loves it.
Loves it so much that he saved over my saved games.
Hundreds of hours of gameplay gone.
Urgh.

I finished Hotline Miami but it made me feel quite ill
Anybody who comes into the n3ta forest will be lost.
Everybody will become a Homfrus.
Everybody, Homfrus.
So, he's not here any more.

Re: Games
That'd be a great quote for the front of the game box.
Re: Games
i took a pretty much instant dislike to it when i tried the demo
Re: Games
I shouldn't read retro computer / video game articles penned by people who know sod all about it. Here's the BBC getting it very wrong.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58281812
----------
The Intellivision was a portable console? Nope.
No mention of the booming European home computer market (Spectrum / C64/ Beeb / Amstrad) in the 80s, which meant that we never suffered "The Video Game Crash Of 1983".
The Nintendo NES - that's the Nintendo Nintendo Entertainment System, I presume?
No mention of Sega.
"Doom. The game depicts a soldier fighting demons on Mars, and was the pioneering First Person Shooter " - What about Wolfenstein 3D?
---------
The thing is, if the Beeb can mess up a very easy to research article like that, what else are they getting wrong, also, ie, more important stuff?
Gawd!

(the maximum is 112% apparently, due to extra quests being added in DLC updates)

Re: Games
Maybe they were referring to Doom's pioneering usage of walls that weren't all at 90 degree angles?blombluss wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:50 pm

Her father had been an engineer and she was also continuously 'playing with forbidden things', all of which contributed to her designated position.
Re: Games
The only walls that matter are at 90 degree ankles.
Re: Games
I might have to play EGG on Dreamcast.
Has anyone played EGG? It looks gorgeous

Re: Games
Apologies for the late reply to this:
The most recent atrocity they've carried out is that Ofcom have been pressured into withdrawing support from Stonewall, as part of a long series of sinister Tory-created attacks on that charity and the LGBT community as a whole. Ofcom claim that they're not doing over LGBT issues - meanwhile, just about any rich white man who says something vile on TV gets a pass from them, and has done for years.
Sorry for the rant. I'm just disgusted by everything in this country nowadays
The BBC get all kinds of things wrong, and on occasion deliberately do not report on certain things or twist the actual story because otherwise it makes the Tories look bad. Then again, the entirety of the British media in 2021 does that. British newspapers / TV news channels seem to be actively evil and bigoted thanks to a select few media barons who can't cope with the idea of things moving on in any way.blombluss wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 11:50 pm I shouldn't read retro computer / video game articles penned by people who know sod all about it. To make up for that last angry post of mine, I can recommend a Spectrum-esque speedy platformer thing called "Quickly, Quackley!" on Steam:

Re: Games
oh god, all those spikes remind me of the trickiest parts of Hollow Knight, but faster!
Re: Games
I tensed up just watching that!
Re: Games
Spelunky 2 is delightful chaos, hooray

And we mustn't forget all those media people who keep being 'silenced' for their views - as they repeatedly keep telling us in their newspaper columns, magazine articles, and on television. Grr!
Re: Games
I am certain that the makers of Mr. Wimpy had never seen Burger Time.
Actually, I seem to recall thinking at the time that a sponsored game was 'cool'.

Re: Games
I have been playing battle chasers: nightwar, which is exactly as generic a game as its name suggests.
I didn't even know I had this (i assume in a humble bundle or something, or maybe it was one of those free games sony gave everyone six months ago) but it's a bland rpg with turn based fight fantasy style battles and the sort of shit oversized character sprites you'd get in some neo geo fighting game and also really terrible voice acting and seemingly no story whatsoever somehow. also its not a sequel despite having a name like a sequel and also the story is written like a sequel where you're supposed to know who the characters are and why their bbanter is funny but you don't and its not
anyway i have spent four hours killing spiders and bats now and that is probably enough
