Maybe I will do this all again in 20 years time when I'm 65 and Yu Suzuki's grandson has just completed the fourth one based on notes he found in his grandfathers secret basement

I see a Last Of The Summer Wine scenario, where we attempt to recreate scenes from video games of our youth whilst dicking about the Yorkshire moors. :)

everything about it is irritating. the characters, the character designs, the character names the controls, the story, the combat, the monster designs, the world design, the menus, the missions, the dialogue, the levelling up, the way it took 2 hours to install even though i've got in on disc, the fact that it's still downloading updates for it 24 hours after i installed it, that the only woman in it at all is dressed like thsi for some reason

https://www.google.com/search?q=cindy+final+fantasy+15

because that's just how mechanics dress i suppose

Amazingly, the very first random quip/soundbte one of my irritating team mates said when I just went back to it was "It doesn't get any better than this"

I played FFxv for a while. It's shit. It gets worse, if anything. The combat is confusing, the story nonsensical and the character designs embarrassing.

If you stick with it and it gets better, let me know.

Okay.

I've played four hours now. I still don't understand the combat at all. I like the way it was clearly designed for the big outdoors areas, as it's based around warping about to close the gaps between you and a circle of soldiers round you, and then it sets most of the game in a series of narrow underground tunnels in the dark and it all breaks even more completely than it already was

Also I was wondering why some of the cutscenes look amazing compared to all the others, and it turns out that there was a huge budgeted cg movie released that your supposed to watch before you play the game so you can understand what's going on or what the story is or who any of the characters are (huge budgeted cg movie sold separately)

Pyre - this is made by the people that made bastion and transistor It's an rpg thing where the battles are some sort of speedball 2 style game (except quite slow)

Anyway it seems quite nice so far, and has a lovely art style at times, although whether there's any depth to the actual speedball games/battles I don't know

I started playing Eastward, which looks lovely, but after a few hours I'm pretty bored of the clunky combat in it and I think I'm going to give up

This weekend I started playing Paradise Killer instead, which is a bizarre murder mystery set in a parallel dimension, or something. It's very odd and I quite like it

I couldn't get on with that, but I might revisit it.

I've been playing Baba Is You, which I assumed would be infuriating, but instead it's lovely and funny and makes me feel smart sometimes.

i've liked all three games of theirs i've played so far (bastion, transistor, this), which is nice. great music and art and atmsophere in tall three, and there's at least something interesting and new in all of them.

their latest one's supposed to be good but its a "roguelike" and roguelikes terrifying me, due to infinity

Subnautuca - all the shit tedious bits of no man's sky (survival, resource collection, crafting) but with none of the good bits (spaaaaaaace). Instead, you are underwater

My niece and nephew are staying next week, so I'll probably have to play through the rest of skyward sword then, as we never finished it when they were here in the summer. I will spend the entire time sighing at all the utterly tedious bits (basically all of it) while hopefully enjoying the one bit that I remember being good (the pirate ship level).

I'm currently watching YouTube videos of slightly obscure arcade racing games from the mid 80s to the mid 90s. Not yer Continental Circuses, and Super Monaco GPs, I mean stuff like Slipstream, Konami GT, and Big Run by Jaleco.

I should play them via MAME, but I'm just too lazy. :)

Good man

i was playing Big Run on the snes just last night. I think the Amiga version might be better though.

and before that i was playing Top Gear 2, and exhaust heat.

The night before i was playing International Rally on GameBoy Colour which is surprisingly good

I just had a quick Big Run Snes/Amiga comparison check on YouTube, and I agree with you - it does look better on t'miga.

Are Top Gear 1/2 direct conversions of Lotus Turbo Challenge 1/2? I'm not sure.

And I quite like the look of Exhaust Heat in all its Mode 7 glory. :)

The Top Gear games came after the Lotus games. Same dev, Gremlin Graphics.

Quite similar games, but Top Gear has more tracks and car upgrades and shit. I like 'em all though.

They're on Amiga, snes and Mega Drive, although i think Top Gear 3000 is snes only.

So Sir Trevor McDonald is going to be the Gamesmaster. Will his games tips section conclude with him saying, "And finally... NO TIPS FOR THE COLECOVISION!!!", like when he presented Nudes At Ten? :)

I finished this today! I thought it was pretty great. I really liked exploring the world and the way the characters were written. The final trial section was easier than I expected, but possibly only because I made sure to collect every possible bit of evidence.

A quiz swiped from CaB:

A ZX Spectrum game name, or a song by The Fall?

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... A/viewform

I scored a disappointing 11/20. :(

Good fun, mind! :)
