Re: Games
there's a settlement thing now where your the mayor of some shithole, and its the most depressingly tedious thing ever made. literally just waiting for arbitrary real time timers to run down to zero for hours at a time, then teleporting back there to press square to confirm that yes you do want to do whatever it is its allowing you to do now.
then there is another two hour wait, and so on, forever. except for when there isn't even a timer, and it just says "everything is running smoothly, you will be alerted when you can return and press a button to start your next timer running", at which point i switched it off forever

Christ, that sounds tedious.
Re: Games
Today I heard of summat called 'Blockchain games', via James/Stephanie Sterling's latest Y/T video.
I'm not sure I still fully understand what it's all about, but I do know that I'm bloody glad that I got to experience 80s/90s gaming, without all of this 'play to earn(?)' scheiße.

Cryptocurrency and blockchains are a giant scam that make no sense. But Elon fucking Musk says they're great, so they must be fine? No, Elon Musk is a cunt, and will probably be killed during one of his space jaunts because "having enough air is for pussies".
Also I read something that said despite cryptocurrency being claimed as "secure", it's actually a billion times easier for people like the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to track somehow.

Well, I suppose that's one innovative way out of paying the appropriate amount of tax.CandyDarling wrote: Tue Nov 09, 2021 10:00 am Cryptocurrency and blockchains are a giant scam that make no sense. Oh my god, the tiny and almost illegible "scroll?"

Figment
A pleasant action adventure set inside the mind, with singing villains and decent puzzles. Annoyingly the switch version had some quite severe slowdown in the later stages and actually crashed once, which made me a little bit less positive on the game overall. It was pretty nice though, even if the meaning of the game is inevitably The Only Thing Indie Games Are Ever About

I know nowt about these remakes of various Grand Theft Autos, but the apparent awfulness of them, including a bug where if you wiggle your car about whilst driving, the vehicle gets wider and wider, has been amusing to read about.

That video made me laugh and laugh. If I could play the games for free I'd be tempted to do so.

I rather enjoyed it, and that enjoyment is almost entirely down to Rab Florence - he's great!

Re: Games
We didn't get Designer Pencil in our pack, but it was £149 rather than £199. And Commodore bundled it with one of those black Commodore C16 tape units with a C64 adapter, as the company desperately tried to claw some money back from that woeful computing misstep.
Re: Games
And we replaced 'Amadeus' with 'Scarabaeus' in the chorus of 'Rock Me Amadeus' by Falco, which was cutting edge satire.

Also the Sinclair QL is being advertised, with its "cartridges" (i.e. absurd endlessly looping tape spool things)

ten years ago i played skyrim for a hundred hours and could never complete it because the second to last quest was bugged and made it impossible to do. now once again i have played skyrim for a hundred hours and can't complete it because the very same quest is bugged and is now impossible to do.
